The Swedish Geotechnical Institute (SGI) is an expert authority working toward safe, efficient, and sustainable construction and sustainable use of land and natural resources. Our tasks include preventing landslides, rockfalls, and coastal erosion. SGI also develops new methods for remediation of contaminated areas. SGI is under the Ministry of Climate and Enterprise and has approximately 100 employees in total. The main office is located in Linköping with offices in Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö.
We are looking for someone with professional experience who is interested in providing geotechnical support to municipalities and county administrative boards in planning and construction processes.
We work with both research and consulting and knowledge dissemination to contribute to safe and sustainable societal development. Among other things, we do this by providing support to authorities and municipalities on geotechnical matters. Society's need for support in preventing risks and avoiding damage from natural disasters such as rockfalls, landslides, and erosion has increased and will continue to increase as a result of development and ongoing climate change. We therefore see an increased demand for our support regarding geotechnical matters, including in planning processes.

You will be part of SGI's Planning Unit, which handles matters concerning detailed and comprehensive plans, infrastructure planning, and cases from the Land and Environmental Court. The position also includes developing our operations and participating in cross-agency collaborations. This results in many external contacts, primarily with authorities and municipalities. The work involves both leading your own projects and participating in others' projects within SGI's operations.
The position also includes participation in our knowledge dissemination activities, such as courses, seminars, and lectures. The person hired will be part of SGI's emergency response organization providing geotechnical support, particularly to rescue services when rockfalls or landslides have occurred or are feared (standby duty person).
