Geodata Technician with Focus on Data, Quality, and Map Production

We are embarking on an exciting and comprehensive project with a new GIS platform for Malmö City, where the Property and Street Office is taking a leading role in developing capabilities for continued business development. We are now seeking an experienced Geodata Technician who works closely with GIS engineers and departments to update, digitalize, verify, and visualize geographic data. This role is perfect for you if you are meticulous, technically interested, and want to work practically with maps, geodata, and urban environments. Responsibilities As a geodata technician with us, you are responsible for collecting, updating, and ensuring the quality of geographic data, as well as producing maps and other visualizations according to established guidelines and standards. You work with digitalization, data registration, compile statistics, and conduct simple analyses. The role is an important practical resource that supports GIS engineers and departments by providing accurate and correct basis for maps and geodata. You will work with the following areas of responsibility: Map Production and Updates Create and maintain geodata. Update existing maps with changes from relationship drawings or other sources. Ensure that maps are correct, follow standards, and the department's own guidelines. Quality Assurance and Structure Verify geodata for errors, inconsistencies, or shortcomings. Ensure that maps and database content are up-to-date and reliable. Work closely with departments to ensure geodata is updated systematically and as close to the source as possible. Prepare and maintain metadata. Collaboration and Consultation Collaborate with GIS engineers, project managers, and other departments. Produce map products and geographic materials used in reports, presentations, or public registers. Provide support and expertise in geodata matters within the organization. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has: Vocational higher education (2 years) or higher education (180 credits) in GIS, geography, civil engineering, cartography and surveying, land surveying, or alternatively other education in combination with experience that the employer considers equivalent. At least five years of practical experience working with GIS programs, such as ArcGIS Pro or QGIS. Experience with and ability to digitalize, update, and ensure quality of geographic data. Good understanding of standardized work methods. Good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing. It is meritorious if you have experience with: FME. ArcGIS Online/Enterprise. Database management, MSSQL, PostGIS (PostgreSQL). CAD. Ledningskollen or work with technical infrastructure. Municipal operations, traffic, parks, land leasing, operations, or facilities. You contribute with accurate materials, enjoy sharing your knowledge, and build good relationships with GIS engineers, project managers, and other colleagues within the organization. You also have a good overall perspective and understand how the quality of geodata affects the organization's analyses, decisions, map products, and external deliveries. By combining technical precision with an understanding of context, you contribute to creating reliable maps and geodata that support Malmö City's work toward a smart, sustainable, and well-functioning city. About the Workplace The Digitalization Unit's mission is to provide support to managers and employees on matters related to IT, digitalization, and GIS. The unit consists of 18 employees and we manage more than 50 IT systems, many with connections to geographic information.
