Secretary General at Foundation Allmänna Barnhuset We are seeking a visionary and results-oriented leader who wants to take Foundation Allmänna Barnhuset forward into the future. As Secretary General, you will lead the organization with confident leadership and be responsible for translating our vision and goals into strategy and results. You have the ability to quickly understand the foundation's mission, values, and history, identify new opportunities, and develop the organization based on societal changes and future needs. We are looking for a Secretary General who wants to take long-term responsibility for Allmänna Barnhuset's development and has the ambition to lead and develop the organization over time. You will lead and further develop a competent organization with a clear societal mandate and high ambitions. You have documented experience leading organizations and staff, and translating visions and strategic goals into concrete results. Together with Allmänna Barnhuset's two subsidiaries and their CEOs, you will develop our children's rights center, educational programs, and conferences. You are also responsible for finances, resources, monitoring, risks, and compliance. The role requires an understanding of political processes and decision-making pathways, as well as the ability to build, nurture, and develop strategic networks and partnerships. We are looking for a courageous leader who shares Allmänna Barnhuset's values and has strong communication and decision-making skills. As a leader, you are clear, engaging, and trustworthy. You create participation, build strong relationships, and unite the organization around a shared mission. You delegate, inspire, and motivate staff, and have strong knowledge of children's rights and experience with vulnerable children. You are joining us at a time when children's rights are high on the agenda and positive changes are happening, while significant challenges also exist. If you have an academic background, documented leadership experience, and a passion for children's rights and supporting vulnerable children, we would like to hear from you. Responsibilities Monitoring the external environment, political processes, and network building. Identify funding opportunities, initiate collaborations, and seek external funding for development work. Develop and implement strategic plans. Lead daily operations and ensure an efficient organization. Strengthen Allmänna Barnhuset's role as a credible actor in dialogue with decision-makers, authorities, and organizations. Ensure stable and sustainable finances through budgeting and financing strategies. Manage consultation responses and overarching research questions. Report to the Board according to the agreed rules of procedure. Requirements At least five years of experience as a Secretary General or in a similar leadership role. Relevant academic degree and the ability to translate knowledge into practical activities. Strong knowledge of children's rights and societal issues. Experience leading through other managers and developing organizations through delegated leadership and teamwork. Experience with board-led operations and strong ability to represent Allmänna Barnhuset. Experience managing budgets and resources, and implementing strategic plans and decisions. Good understanding of legislation, business processes, and strategic HR matters. Experience with internal controls, risk management, and compliance. About Foundation Allmänna Barnhuset Foundation Allmänna Barnhuset is a state foundation and a national knowledge organization with a mandate to strengthen children and young people in socially vulnerable situations. Allmänna Barnhuset has worked for children's safety and development since 1633. Through research, method development, knowledge dissemination, and collaboration, we help translate children's rights into practice. We primarily address professionals, researchers, and decision-makers and collaborate with municipalities, regions, authorities, universities, colleges, and civil society organizations. The Convention on the Rights of the Child is a central starting point for our work. Our vision is that children living in vulnerable situations shall have the same opportunities as other children for good living conditions. Our office is located on Döbelnsgatan in Stockholm where approximately 18 staff members work together. Foundation Allmänna Barnhuset has two wholly-owned subsidiaries. Within these areas, we develop and disseminate research, knowledge, and methods that strengthen children's rights and improve support for children and young people.
