Learn more about us at: kau.se/jobb Description The Center for Language and Literature Didactics (CSL, https://www.kau.se/csl) at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is now seeking two visiting scholars. The research environment is based at the Department of Languages, Literature and Intercultural Studies, but extends across many disciplines that collaborate around teacher education. It is a rich environment where subject didactic questions focusing on language and literature from different traditions, theories and methods are brought together and developed. Employment as a visiting scholar involves participating in – and contributing to – this research environment. Responsibilities The visiting scholar shall primarily engage in activities related to research. The holder of this position will work in a subject didactic environment where teacher educators, researchers and projects focus on language and literature didactic research. The research should be connected to one or more of CSL's research areas, ongoing projects or the ULF initiative (Education, Learning; Research) with a particular focus on language and literature. The visiting scholar is expected to contribute to CSL's research environment and the position includes actively and regularly working on-site in Karlstad during the employment period, as well as actively participating in the environment's seminar activities. Qualifications To be eligible for employment as a visiting scholar, you must hold a doctoral degree in subject didactics, pedagogical work or equivalent, or have a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to such a doctoral degree. For this position, a requirement is that the doctoral degree must focus on the school subjects Swedish or English. An additional requirement is teacher education in the school subjects Swedish or English. Strong proficiency in both Swedish and English is also required. Criteria for Assessment We place particular emphasis on the scientific quality of the applicant's previous publications and research plan. It is of great importance to have conducted current and innovative studies that highlight multimodal perspectives on language and literature instruction and/or professional issues related to teaching in the school subjects Swedish and English. We attach great importance to the applicant's personal qualities such as ability to collaborate with researchers at both national and international levels, ability to build good relationships with colleagues and students, and ability to take own initiative and show commitment to others. We value strong administrative competence, good ability to communicate about research and development work, as well as good ability to collaborate with colleagues and the surrounding society. Terms of Employment This is a fixed-term, part-time position at 50–80% of full-time, with start date October 1, 2026 (or by agreement) for 3 months.
