Chief Inspector of the Operational Activities Division of the Criminal Investigation Service of Riga Administration (in operational work) Requirements for position candidates: - Compliance with the requirements specified in Articles 4 and 7 of the Law on Service Procedure for officials with special service ranks in institutions of the Ministry of Interior and the Prison Administration; - Required higher education (bachelor's degree) or Level II professional higher education in law, civil and military defense, engineering and technology, or social and human sciences; - Required minimum 2 years of experience in operational activities or pre-trial investigation in the State Border Guard or another institution; - Desired English language knowledge at A2 level in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and required good knowledge of Russian language (for performance of certain job duties); - Ability to use computer programs (MS Office products, email and internet browsers); - Desired "B" category driver's license; - Prior to taking office, necessary to obtain a Category 2 (secret) special permit for access to state classified facilities. Main job duties: - Obtain, evaluate and investigate received operational information in the prescribed manner; - Respond to information indicating possible commission of a criminal offense; - Identify operationally significant objects and persons and conduct operational activities; - Initiate and conduct operational activity measures and maintain records in operational surveillance cases, including for serious or particularly serious, multi-episode, international nature or organized group crimes; - Analyze obtained information about border crossers, cargo flows and border protection organizations; - Conduct tactical risk analysis based on intelligence stages in case files, operational surveillance results; - Conduct measures unrelated to operational activities in the field of state border security and combating illegal migration; - Examine reports indicating possible commission of a criminal offense and initiate criminal proceedings upon establishing the grounds and basis provided by law, or refuse to initiate criminal proceedings; - Conduct investigations or other procedural activities at the direction of the process director as a member of the investigation team or procedural task performer; - Clarify facts or circumstances relevant to criminal proceedings that can only be clarified using operational activity methods and means; - Conduct administrative violation case records in the manner prescribed by normative acts.
