About the workplace You will become part of the IT Department at University of Gothenburg, which consists of approximately 150 employees and consultants distributed across several sections. You will belong to the IT Development section, where approximately 25 developers work with a broad spectrum of technologies, including Java, Python, React, C#, .NET, PHP/Drupal, and container solutions in Kubernetes and OpenShift. Our environments also include Microsoft Azure and SharePoint. We work in agile teams with a focus on collaboration, participation, and learning. The workplace is centrally located in Gothenburg and we offer the possibility to work partially remotely. Responsibilities About the role You will work with both frontend and backend in a complex technical environment. The work includes development and maintenance of web solutions, integrations, and APIs, as well as technical improvements. Here you will work in an operation where AI, security, and new ways of working are rapidly changing the developer role. You will become part of a team that explores how AI-assisted development, automation, and modern tools can create real value—while maintaining high standards for quality, information security, and long-term sustainability. You will initially work in our web team with Drupal, PHP, and React. The role is broad and flexible, and based on the department's needs, you may over time also work in other development teams. You will contribute both operatively in development and to how we develop our working methods. For us, development is not just about code. It's about combining technology, quality, security, and business value—with the user's needs in focus. Qualifications About you We place great importance on personal suitability. To succeed in the role, you need to have the following qualifications: Post-secondary or academic education in IT with a focus on programming and development, or other education combined with relevant work experience for the position that we consider equivalent. Good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish and English. Documented qualified several years of experience (approximately 4 years during the last 5 years) of system development in complex environments. Work experience and good knowledge of: Web development with JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one of the following programming languages: PHP, Python, Java, or C# AI-assisted development DevOps, CI/CD, and deployment Integrations and APIs Documented qualified experience (approximately 2 years) during the last three years of broad technical work in both frontend and backend. At least two years of experience with agile working methods. Meritorious Experience with Drupal development or other CMS. Experience with React. Experience with facilitating roles, such as Scrum Master. Experience and good knowledge of development in multiple programming languages and technical environments. Experience with container solutions in OpenShift or Kubernetes. Experience with requirements analysis. Experience with testing. Employment The employment is permanent, full-time (100%), positioned at the IT Department in central Gothenburg. Your job title will be IT Developer. Start date as soon as possible by agreement.
