The Role of Foot Care Specialist
As a Foot Care Specialist, you perform foot care and wound care for diabetic patients. This also involves observing, assessing, prioritizing, documenting, and communicating changes in the patient's foot status.
You participate in teamwork centered on the patient, and through dialogue with the patient and their family, you provide support and guidance to enable optimal involvement in care and treatment. The team consists of diabetologists, diabetes nurses, dietitians, and foot therapists. As a foot therapist, you also frequently collaborate with orthopedic specialists and orthotists. It is independent work where you have the opportunity to take significant responsibility, while working in a team with high expertise across multiple professions.

The Diabetes Foot Care Clinic is part of Medical Care Unit E at the Department of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. The Department of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at Höglandssjukhuset in Eksjö is a progressive facility where we care for patients requiring specialized medical and geriatric care. The clinic has a history of innovative, systematic, and evidence-based quality work with strong patient focus.
Since 2015, the clinic's management system has been certified according to ISO 9001:2008. The clinic's ISO certification is something we are all very proud of! In short, it means we have order and structure in our operations. This creates good conditions for those of us working at the clinic to know what, when, and how we are expected to act. This ensures that our processes are quality-assured so that patients receive good and safe care.
Your Profile
You are trained as a nursing assistant and have completed a three-semester foot specialist program. It is also desirable that you have several years of experience in the profession. You are calm and accommodating in your approach and work well with others. You should be comfortable mentoring students and speaking to groups.
We would like you to have good knowledge and experience with wounds and diabetes.
