The role of Foot Care Specialist As a Foot Care Specialist, you provide foot care and wound care for diabetic patients. This also involves observing, assessing, prioritizing, documenting, and communicating changes in the patient's foot status. You participate in teamwork around the patient, and in dialogue with the patient and their loved ones, you provide support and guidance to enable optimal participation in care and treatment. The team consists of a diabetes physician, diabetes nurse, dietitian, and foot therapist. As a foot therapist, you also often collaborate with orthopedic specialists and orthotists. It is independent work where you have the opportunity to take significant responsibility, while working in a team with high expertise across multiple professions. The Department of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at Höglandssjukhuset in Eksjö is a developing facility where we care for patients in need of specialized medical and geriatric care. Your profile You are trained as a nursing assistant and have completed a three-term foot specialist program. It is also desirable that you have several years of experience in the profession. You are calm and helpful in your approach and collaborate well with other people. You should be comfortable mentoring students and presenting to groups.
