The Role of Foot Care Specialist As a Foot Care Specialist, you will provide foot care and wound care for diabetic patients. This also involves observing, assessing, prioritizing, documenting, and communicating changes in the patient's foot status. You participate in teamwork around the patient, and in dialogue with the patient and their loved ones, you provide support and guidance to enable optimal participation in care and treatment. The team consists of diabetes physicians, diabetes nurses, dietitians, and podiatrists. As a podiatrist, you will also frequently collaborate with orthopedic surgeons and orthopedic technicians. This is independent work where you have the opportunity to take significant responsibility, while also working in a team with high expertise across several other professions. Your Profile You are trained as a nursing assistant and have foot specialist education of three terms. It is also desirable that you have several years of experience in the profession. You are calm and accommodating in your manner and work well with other people. You should be comfortable mentoring students and speaking to groups.
