At the Swedish Migration Agency, we work with one of our time's major societal issues – migration. In total, we are approximately 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job! We are seeking detention officers for the Facility in Gävle. At a detention unit, individuals who have received a rejection or deportation decision and who need to be available for enforcement are placed. A person may also be detained if the right to reside in the country or their identity needs to be investigated. The facility is a closed unit and operations run 24/7. Work is based on applicable legislation where legal certainty, dignity, and safety are important. The role includes work with care, supervision, searches, and security. You conduct conversations at, for example, admission and discharge, and to inform about decisions. You identify and address any special needs of detainees and organize activities for them. Furthermore, you ensure a calm, safe, and secure environment at the facility through conducting security checks and searches. Assistance with transports, responsibility for food handling, and certain administrative tasks are also part of the position. The work can be physically demanding to some extent. The work may also involve the need to physically intervene during incidents. You have good self-awareness and can distinguish between the personal and the professional. Since the operations are dynamic, you need to be calm and stable even under stress or pressing situations, maintain a realistic perspective, and focus on what matters. You thrive with variation and easily adapt and change your perspective and approach when circumstances change. In our work as civil servants, we also place high demands on judgment and strong security and confidentiality awareness. You have Upper secondary education or equivalent knowledge acquired in other ways Experience working with requirements for good service and professional conduct Very good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing Good knowledge of English It is meritorious if you have Experience working with people in vulnerable situations Experience in social work, such as care work, mental health, substance abuse, or similar Experience working in a secure environment, such as detention, criminal justice, forensic psychiatry, or similar operations Academic education with legal, social science, or behavioral science orientation Class B driver's license.
