We are seeking an experienced manager for the Education Administration who wants to lead one of the largest administrations in Härjedalen Municipality and further develop the valuable work being conducted within children and education. In the role as Director of Education Administration, you will have a unique opportunity to lead an important operation and make a difference for both children and adults in a change-oriented and dynamic administration. Over the past year, the administration has developed a school development program, completed a reorganization, established a stable management function, and maintains sound finances. Your mission will be to implement the decided school development program, which includes state reforms, and provide principals with the leadership, stimulation, and support they need. Härjedalen Municipality has just over 1,000 employees. It is close to decision-makers and colleagues in other administrations, which provides you with a network and support that facilitates your leadership and ensures you are not alone in challenges or decisions. Start date: January 2027. Responsibilities Administration Operations You will be responsible for nearly 300 dedicated employees working within preschool, preschool class, primary school, upper secondary school, after-school centers, and adult education. The administration also oversees adapted primary school and adult vocational education as adapted education. The operations vary in size and are geographically dispersed throughout Härjedalen Municipality. Responsibilities As Director of Education Administration, you are responsible for ensuring that your operations are conducted in accordance with laws, objectives, guidelines, and financial directives. In this role, you will follow up on operations based on the administration's strategic goals and will primarily work with a strategic focus. The assignment involves continuously working on continuous improvements and quality assurance of operations. You will monitor the external environment and work on strategic issues, while also providing operational support to managers and other operational heads. Your role involves leading and developing your administration while contributing to the municipality's overall governance and development. You are responsible for your own management team and have personnel responsibility for 11 direct reporting managers; both principals and operations managers. You also have an administrative team reporting to you, which provides you with the right conditions to focus on your core mission. You will serve as the presenter to the municipality's Education Committee, report to the Municipal Manager, and are part of the municipality's management group together with the Social Manager, Director of Community Development Administration, Director of the Real Estate Department, IT Manager, Finance Manager, and HR Manager. There is also a municipal group management that you are part of, as well as a network for the county's school managers. Qualifications We would like you to have: - Academic education in a relevant field - Several years of management and leadership experience that has included operational, budget, and personnel responsibility - Experience working within the operational area - Good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish - Class B driver's license. It is advantageous if you have: - Experience working in the public sector and/or politically governed organizations - Experience leading through other managers - Experience collaborating with political leadership, presenting to committees or similar - Experience leading strategic work - Completed principal training - Completed school manager training Personal Qualities You are clear, inclusive, and confident in your leadership.
