About the Position As a senior research engineer, you will work on the development, processing, and characterization of polymer-based mixed ionic-electronic conductors (OMIECs) and electrochemical components. The work focuses on developing additive manufacturing strategies for OMIECs, understanding the relationships between processing conditions and the electrical and electrochemical properties of materials, and developing functional electrochemical components based on additively manufactured materials. Your responsibilities will include: formulation of OMIEC-based inks for additive manufacturing, processing and patterning of OMIEC films using additive manufacturing methods, optimization of printing and post-processing conditions to control film quality and performance, characterization of morphology, electrical conductivity, and electrochemical properties of processed OMIEC films, fabrication of electrochemical components with additively manufactured OMIECs as active materials, electrical and electrochemical characterization and evaluation of the manufactured components, analysis and documentation of research results and participation in scientific publications. About You We are seeking someone who is independent, meticulous, and experimentally skilled with a strong interest in polymer electronics, electrochemical materials, and components. You have a strong ability to plan and conduct experimental research work independently and to collaborate in an interdisciplinary research environment. We require that you have: a PhD in materials science, chemistry, physics, electrical engineering, polymer technology, or a related field, documented research experience in organic semiconductors, conducting polymers, OMIECs, or polymer electronics, experience with processing and experimental characterization of functional materials or electronic components, experience with electrical or electrochemical characterization, the ability to independently plan, conduct, analyze, and document research work, very good proficiency in English, both oral and written. It is advantageous if you have experience in one or more of the following areas: formulation of functional inks, additive manufacturing or printed electronics, organic mixed ionic-electronic conductors (OMIECs), organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) or other electrochemical components, chemical or electrochemical doping of organic semiconductors or conducting polymers, sustainable processing strategies for organic electronic materials, thin film characterization, electrical and electrochemical characterization of organic electronic components. Your Workplace You will work at the Laboratory of Organic Electronics (LOE) and be part of the Organic Nanoelectronics research group, led by Professor Simone Fabiano. The research group conducts research in organic semiconductors, conducting polymers, mixed ionic-electronic conductors, and organic electronic and electrochemical components. The research covers the development of materials, processing and manufacturing strategies, and component technologies for future polymer electronics.
