Welcome to apply for a job with us! We are now recruiting a Senior Research Engineer in Mobile Telecommunications. About the job As Senior Research Engineer, you will work in research projects alongside other colleagues in the department, but are also expected to work independently and initiate and lead your own studies. This includes writing applications and obtaining funding for future projects, as well as supporting teaching, particularly in connection with laboratory and practical sessions. You will be part of projects on digital twins for circular material flows within the research area Urban Development and Logistics. In these, you are expected to work with conceptual development of digital twins for this area. You will also work with data analysis and implementation of flow modeling for different modes of transport based on a combination of data sources. This work will be carried out within the research area Data-Driven Transport Analysis. For these areas, you will be part of several different projects where we work with various external partners. About you We are looking for someone who is analytical, flexible and proactive. For this position, it is also important that you are collaborative while having a strong ability to work independently. We want you to have: A doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence in infrastructure informatics, transport science, data science, electrical engineering or another related area that the employer considers relevant for the position. Documented experience in research within data-driven methods and digital systems. Ability to independently plan, conduct and document research work. It is advantageous if you have: Experience in research within maritime, transport or logistics systems. Experience in machine learning and explainable artificial intelligence (XAI). Experience with digital twins. Experience in optimization, modeling and simulation of transport or logistics processes, particularly with a focus on efficiency and sustainability. Experience in writing or participating in research applications and externally funded research projects. Experience in laboratory teaching and practical instruction. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability. Your workplace You will be part of the Department of Science and Technology https://liu.se/organisation/liu/itn which is known, among other things, for its work in logistics, visualization and organic electronics. We combine academic excellence with productive collaboration with the surrounding society. The position belongs to the Division of Communication and Transport Systems https://liu.se/forskning/kommunikations-och-transportsystem which is one of the largest environments in the Nordic region for research and education within the transport field. The activities are conducted within the units Traffic Systems, Quantitative Logistics, Air Logistics, Rail and Public Transport, Mobile Telecommunications, Construction Logistics and Building Technology. Research is primarily externally funded and conducted in close collaboration with industry, authorities and society. Within undergraduate education, we are responsible for six educational programs. You will be part of the Mobile Telecommunications unit. However, you are expected to work broadly across the entire division and collaborate with researchers from several different units. About the employment Fixed-term part-time employment for 12 months, 50% position. Start date by agreement. The position may be classified as a security position. If so, a security clearance with background check will be conducted before an employment decision is made.
