The Swedish Museum of Natural History is Sweden's largest museum and a leading research institution where curiosity meets science. The Zoology Department is responsible for 5 million objects. The collections contain invaluable historical artifacts from the 1700s onward. The collections are continuously expanded and used by the department's own researchers as well as by researchers around the world. The preservation and systematic organization of the physical collections, together with digitalization, are important activities to ensure their accessibility for the future.
We are now seeking 2 senior assistants. These are full-time positions for 2 months.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Practical work involving care, enhancement, and accessibility of scientific zoological collections and archives. The work will largely consist of database entry and object handling in connection with data registration. Tasks include transcription of label data and updating of taxonomic information, digitalization, coordinate mapping, restructuring and organization of collections. For one of the positions, collection care is also included. The work will be performed independently and in collaboration with existing staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements:
• Academic degree in biology
• Experience working with databases
• Strong skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
• Ability to interpret handwritten text
Meritorious:
• Education with specialization in systematics and taxonomy
• Experience working with museum collections, particularly zoological scientific collections
• Experience with imaging work, such as scanning and photography
• Experience working with archives
• Knowledge of taxonomic and nomenclatural principles
• Knowledge of scientific museum collections and their significance
• Zoological species knowledge
