About the Department
The newly established Department for Cities and Rural Areas consists of two units that together are responsible for the department's overall mission in the built environment and community development sector. The Unit for Housing and Built Environment and the Unit for Community Planning and Infrastructure. The units are responsible for Formas' portfolio in the built environment and community development sector, which includes several different programs and initiatives: the national research program for sustainable built environment and community development, the strategic innovation program Smart Built Environment, the Impact innovation program ShiftSweden, as well as Nordic and European cooperation, for example the European partnership program Driving Urban Transitions.
About the Role
As a research secretary at Formas, you will work within a range of different areas within the scope of your expertise, with the goal of supporting and strengthening knowledge development. You will plan and lead work with calls for proposals and preparation of research and innovation applications in collaboration with external experts. You will also work on developing various strategic agendas and programs, mapping and analyzing knowledge needs in dialogue with a broad range of actors, and participate in various forms of collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Your responsibilities include representing Formas in collaboration with other government agencies, municipalities, industry organizations and stakeholders in the field, as well as planning and implementing outward-facing activities. The work also includes producing reports and analyses, leading reference groups, and responding to consultations.
Who Are You?
You have a broad understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with the built environment and community development sector. You have experience working with research and innovation issues and within the built environment and community development sector. Furthermore, you are accustomed to working from a broad systems perspective with a great interest in navigating a field where there are both synergies and conflicting objectives, in close dialogue and collaboration with a broad range of different stakeholders and actors. The position includes both analytical and more outward-facing elements, and it is a strength if you are comfortable with varied work on multiple parallel tracks.
At Formas, we work in processes that require very good collaboration skills. The workload can periodically be high, which requires a good ability to plan and prioritize. As a person, you are driven, structured, curious, thorough and responsible. You have the ability to work both independently and in groups and have good ability to adapt to different tasks and situations. Furthermore, you have high integrity, are quality-conscious, administratively skilled, and have excellent customer service orientation.
Requirements for the Position:
Research education that is relevant for the position (or equivalent qualifications acquired in other ways)
Working experience with research and innovation issues
Working experience from the public sector, private sector or civil society with built environment and community development issues
Are an excellent communicator in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
Meriting Qualifications for the Position:
Experience with collaboration processes between the public sector, academia, private sector and surrounding society
An established network within the built environment and community development sector
Documented experience of project or process management

Working at Formas
Formas is a government agency with approximately 110 employees. Our areas of operation include environment, land-based industries, and built environment and community development. About the Position
You will be employed as a Research Secretary and will be part of the Department for Cities and Rural Areas. The employment is a full-time temporary contract for 12 months. Start as soon as possible.
