About the Role As a research advisor, you are a key person in the work of strengthening the quality of research applications, increasing the funding success rate, and ensuring that our research makes an impact. In your role, you work to offer qualified support to the institution's research-active faculty in seeking external funding, both nationally and internationally. Your tasks include identifying important funders and calls for proposals, offering advice and guidance throughout the application process, and supporting research environments in developing funding strategies. You provide proactive support by following up on rejected applications, analyzing feedback, and actively encouraging and assisting researchers in revising and resubmitting improved applications. You support the entire process—from idea to submitted application and follow-up on rejected applications. With experience in applying for or assisting with research funding from Swedish or European research funders, you have the ability to critically review applications from multiple perspectives beyond scientific quality, such as relevance, feasibility, and societal benefit. Your Main Responsibilities: - Identify important funders and calls for proposals relevant to the university's research environments - Maintain contact with relevant research funders and, where applicable, their national contact persons (NCPs) - Provide administrative support in the application process - Critically review drafts of research applications and provide advice for improvements - Develop and deliver internal training in the above areas Are You the Person We're Looking For? The role requires: - A completed doctoral degree - Current knowledge of research conditions and research environments at universities or university colleges - Experience in applying for or assisting with research funding from Swedish or European research funders - Experience in managing processes - Excellent knowledge of Swedish and English, spoken and written It is an advantage if you have: - Experience in assessing research applications, so-called peer review - Knowledge of Sweden's and the EU's research funding landscape - Experience in research advisory or research support and in communicating knowledge to researchers - Experience working with common application portals, particularly Prisma and the EU's Funding & Tenders Portal To succeed in this role, you are a collaboration-oriented person who thrives in an environment with many contact points—from researchers and management to economists and funders. You thrive in an advisory role where you build trust and create valuable collaborations. You find it easy to establish trusting relationships, and through trust you both challenge and support your collaborations. You are responsible and drive your work forward independently, working in a structured and thorough manner with a strong ability to follow up on processes and ensure quality in both application texts and administrative workflows. You are communicative and express yourself very well in speech and writing in both Swedish and English. You can convey complex information in a clear and accessible way and have the ability to translate knowledge from external networks and funders into concrete benefits for the organization, while capturing the organization's needs and communicating them in relevant contexts. The Employment The position is a permanent employment, full-time (100%), with start date as soon as possible by agreement. A probationary period may apply. Dalarna University operates at two locations. The placement location for this employment is Falun, and some work also takes place in Borlänge. There is an option to arrange remote work.
