The Workplace The Department of Immune Technology conducts research ranging from advanced technology development to biomedical research. The main research areas include immuno-oncology, sensitization, and biomarkers. The department employs advanced technologies, such as genomics and transcriptomics, phage display-based antibody development, large-scale mass spectrometry-based proteomics, and associated bioinformatics. The department also manages several student courses and offers high-quality education at undergraduate and graduate levels. The department has approximately 45 employees. The primary focus of this position is on the use of technical platforms for the development of human antibodies and other relevant molecules for therapy. The position is connected to CREATE Health, a center with a focus on using advanced technology to advance cancer research across multiple areas and is administered within the Department of Immune Technology. Through the collaborative project L2Bridge, which will be supported over the next five years by a donation (https://www.lu.se/artikel/storsta-donationen-till-lunds-universitet-i-modern-tid) from the Berta Kamprad Foundation, an investment is now being made in antibody development. The position also involves work within the national infrastructure SciLifeLab's Display and Selection Technologies unit, which is part of the national research platform SciLifeLab Drug Discovery and Development. Its role is to nationally, with a focus on antibody development, promote translational development of academic research discoveries toward therapeutic use in the clinic. Tasks and Responsibilities As a research engineer, your tasks will be project-focused and will therefore vary over time, but will primarily include (i) General tasks in molecular and cell biology, such as production of proteins/antibodies and cell culture. (ii) Application of phage display technology for antibody development, and (iii) downstream molecular and functional characterization. Your responsibilities also include documenting and reporting the results of your work and collaborating within the research environment. As our activities are part of the university, tasks also occur in teaching and education, such as mentoring students in laboratory work. Additionally, department-wide responsibilities are included. Qualifications Requirements for employment: - You hold a bachelor's or master's degree, or equivalent education, in biotechnology, cell or molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, immunology, or similar field. - You have professional practical experimental experience in molecular biology work, such as cloning, protein production, or other related methods. - You have professional practical experimental experience in the culture of human cells. - You have good ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing. Meritorious for employment: - You have professional practical experimental experience in protein production, including purification and characterization using size exclusion chromatography (SEC) and/or protein engineering. - You have practical experience with cell-based assays. - You have practical experience in functional evaluation of proteins and biological mechanisms. - You have practical experience with flow cytometry. - You have experience with phage display technology or similar combinatorial library technology. - You have a solid track record of independent work. - You have experience from the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry. Other Information The employment is a fixed-term contract for 11 months with a full-time position (100%) with start date November 1, 2026 or by agreement. A probationary period may be applied.
