Our values are based on credibility, trust and security. By being brave, thinking freely and doing new things, we create together, through big and small actions, a better future. Welcome to apply for a job with us! About the job Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), particularly 4D flow MRI, enables detailed quantification of cardiovascular hemodynamics through measurement of blood flow in the heart and vessels. By combining such data with physiologically-based mathematical models, patient-specific digital twins can be developed to improve understanding of cardiovascular diseases and their treatment. As a research engineer, you will participate in the development of the next generation of patient-specific digital twins for cardiovascular diagnostics and treatment, with particular focus on hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases. The work includes advanced processing and analysis of 4D flow MRI data and integration of image-based measurements with mathematical models of cardiovascular physiology. Work tasks include development and implementation of methods for analysis and quality control of 4D flow MRI data, development and validation of patient-specific mathematical models and digital twins, and quantification of hemodynamic parameters and biomarkers related to heart function, vessel function and blood pressure regulation. The work also includes collection of longitudinal clinical data from patients before and after treatment and scientific writing and publication of research results in international journals. The research is conducted in close collaboration between experts in medical image analysis, MRI physics, cardiology, mathematics and systems biology. The work takes place within established research environments at CMIV and Linköping University and in collaboration with national and international research partners. About you We are looking for someone with good communication skills and who works well with others while having the ability to work independently. You further have good English language skills both spoken and written, as we within the department and project are multilingual. We want you to have: Completed a Master's degree in engineering or equivalent Experience with handling medical images Experience with programming It is meritorious if you have: Knowledge of handling and analysis of 4D flow MRI data Knowledge of cardiovascular physiology Experience with programming in Matlab and python Experience in systems biology, mathematical modeling and digital twins Swedish language skills spoken and written Your workplace You will work at the Department of Diagnostics and Specialist Medicine, https://liu.se/organisation/liu/hmv/disp, and the Unit for Cardiovascular Sciences, https://liu.se/organisation/liu/hmv/disp/enheten-for-kardiovaskular-vetenskaper. The position is connected to the Center for Medical Image Science and Visualization, http://www.liu.se/cmiv. CMIV is an interdisciplinary research center within Linköping University that conducts focused cutting-edge research within interdisciplinary projects that provide solutions to tomorrow's clinical challenges. The interdisciplinary research group in cardiovascular imaging and modeling, https://liu.se/forskning/kardiovaskular-bildtagning-och-modellering, within CMIV, conducts technical development and application of advanced MRI and CT methods in the cardiovascular field, which is one of the focus areas at CMIV.
