The Department of Environmental Science is one of the largest departments within the Faculty of Science. The department consists of four units with more than 170 employed researchers, teachers, doctoral students, and technical/administrative staff from more than 30 different countries. Research and teaching are conducted in environmental chemistry, ecotoxicology, atmospheric science, and biogeochemistry. As a staff member at the Department of Environmental Science, you will become part of a dynamic environment with research of the highest quality and with a strong international character. Research at the Biogeochemistry Unit focuses on carbon and nitrogen cycles as well as heavy metals in soil, freshwater systems, and oceans. The unit has a strong and long-standing research focus on the impact of global warming in the Arctic, with an overarching goal to improve knowledge of these systems and future forecasts for their biogeochemical cycles. The Biogeochemistry Unit is now seeking a research assistant to complement our team. More information about us can be found at: Department of Environmental Science. Job Responsibilities The employment is linked to an ongoing project on interactions between plants and soil in tundra. The job tasks include processing of soil and plant samples (grinding, weighing) as well as various laboratory analyses (e.g., of pH, nutrients). Qualifications Applicants are expected to have a Swedish master's degree or an equivalent degree from another country. We are seeking a highly motivated person with experience of laboratory work and with soil and plant samples. The evaluation will be based on previous experience, independence, and ability to collaborate with others. A background in, for example, biology, geo- or environmental science would be very suitable. Good collaboration skills and good knowledge of English are required. About the Position The employment is full-time and applies for a maximum of 4 months with start in September 2026.
