The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology (IMBIM) at Uppsala University is a broad international environment for research and teaching. Project Description
The holder of this position will work in a research group at Uppsala University, primarily on a project that requires experience in advanced structural biology and biophysics.
Duties
The project will involve investigating how molecular movement in microRNA regulates their function and how we can ultimately manipulate it with small molecules that will become therapeutics. Investigations will be conducted using advanced NMR experiments and SHAPE on RNA molecules. The person will produce RNA samples using solid-phase synthesis or in vitro transcription, purify them, and then measure and determine the RNA structure and dynamics using NMR, SHAPE, and other biophysical methods.
Qualifications
Master's degree in biochemistry or biophysics. Documented laboratory experience in structural biology and biophysics, sequencing, or knowledge of NMR, and experience with RNA handling. Strong proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is required. You must be able to work both independently and in collaboration with other group members. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability, such as collaboration skills, flexibility, accuracy, and sense of responsibility.
