The position is time-limited with start date October 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026. The position is full-time (100%) and may be extended. The department conducts education and research in industrial economics, industrial design, and mechanical engineering. A common starting point for the activities is to develop knowledge about industrial systems, organizations, processes, flows, and products with regard to social, economic, and ecological sustainability. The department has strong ties to the surrounding community, and students, teachers, and researchers work in close collaboration with industry and authorities. Responsibilities As a Research Assistant in Industrial Economics, you will dedicate your time to supporting the ongoing research project "Initiating Production Relocation: Interaction Between Different Analytical Levels," funded by KK-stiftelsen. The project studies how manufacturing companies initiate decisions to relocate production. The focus is on the interplay between the macro level (global and national conditions), the meso level (regional networks and ecosystems), and the micro level (company resources and management decisions). Through close collaboration with industry, new knowledge, models, and decision support tools are developed to help companies identify early signals and make more proactive and sustainable location decisions in a changing environment. Your responsibilities include, among other things, literature reviews, data collection and analysis, as well as compilation and reporting of research results. Your workplace is at Gävle University. Work may, by agreement with the employer, be performed both on campus and remotely. Qualifications To be employed as a Research Assistant, we want you to have a Master's degree in Industrial Economics or another subject that the employer considers equivalent. You have subject specialization in production relocation, or other subject specialization that the employer considers relevant to the project. Furthermore, you should have: Strong ability to work independently and take own initiatives. Strong ability to collaborate and build good relationships internally and externally. Strong ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English. It is advantageous if you have: Experience with research-related work. Experience with qualitative and quantitative analysis. Experience with decision support for production relocation. Experience with multi-criteria analysis. You must have your Master's degree at the time of employment. In the appointment, consideration will also be given to how the applicant can strengthen and complement the department's research within the subject area.
