The Department of Economics is one of the largest departments within the Faculty of Social Sciences with approximately 100 employees from about ten countries. Around 1,000 students participate annually in one of our courses at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. Research focus is on labor economics, macroeconomics, and public economics. Researchers at the department are frequently engaged as experts in public inquiries and in the media, and collaborate in many ways with the surrounding society. Duties The work is divided between two research projects at the department, MacH2M and a research project on the economic effects of AI. Within both projects, work will primarily consist of analysis and processing of large microdata sets, as well as programming in various programming languages. Within the MacH2M part of this position, you will primarily work with microdata by programming in various programming languages, primarily in STATA. One task involves using the programming language SAS to run various exercises in the microsimulation model FASIT from Statistics Sweden (SCB). For this work task, much of the data documentation and existing code is in Swedish. Large parts of the remaining work are conducted in English. Within the project concerning the economic effects of AI, you will also work with microdata, in this case in collaboration with the agency Tillväxtanalys and possibly other agencies. The project studies structural transformation and other economic processes in real time, and your task is to develop and update analytical frameworks for this purpose under the direction of a research group at Uppsala University. Qualifications A bachelor's degree with a focus on quantitative analysis, for example in economics, statistics, computer science, or an engineering subject. Experience with programming in Python or similar. Very good knowledge of English in both spoken and written form. Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities such as cooperation, accuracy, and organization. Merit A master's degree or ongoing master's education in the above-mentioned subjects. Experience in handling and analyzing large data sets (microdata). Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form.
