The Department of Economics is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Stockholm University and has approximately 90 employees. The department conducts high-quality research and education in economics, supported by a well-functioning administration. We are an international and dynamic institution, centrally located on the university campus at Frescati, visit the Department of Economics. Job Duties The Department of Economics at Stockholm University is seeking a full-time research assistant for the period January–August 2027. The research assistant will support and collaborate on a series of new and ongoing projects related to political economy. The work encompasses everything from data collection and processing to advanced econometric analysis in research projects with large survey and text databases. The researcher will work closely with Dr. Ferenc Szucs and Dr. Mitch Downey. The research assistant will receive mentorship from the research team mentioned above. Research assistants are physically located at the Department of Economics, Stockholm University, and work in close collaboration with the research team. Previous assistants at the Department of Economics, Stockholm University, have gone on to top-ranked doctoral programs in economics. Specific job duties: - Processing and managing large datasets. - Performing statistical and econometric analyses. - Writing reports that summarize data analysis. - Compiling literature reviews. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's or master's degree in a field that includes significant quantitative coursework, such as a civil engineering degree or a degree in economics or statistics. - Strong interest in economics and societal issues. - Good written and oral communication skills. - Ability to work independently. - Good organizational skills. Desirable: - Focus on quantitative analysis. - Programming skills in Stata, R, and Python. - Experience working with large datasets. - Experience working with large language models (e.g., ChatGPT).
