Lund University was founded in 1666 and is consistently ranked among the world's leading academic institutions. We have approximately 46,000 students and 8,500 employees in Lund, Helsingborg, and Malmö. We are united in our mission to understand, explain, and improve our world and people's living conditions. Research and education at the Department of Environmental and Geological Sciences (MGeo) address fundamental and applied questions about Earth's past, present, and future climate and environment, including human interaction with nature and consequences for human well-being. MGeo develops and applies cutting-edge methods, models, and techniques in environmental science, quaternary and bedrock geology, paleontology, physical geography, biodiversity and ecosystem science, remote sensing, geographic information science (GIS), and computational science in environment and health to study processes ranging from the microscopic to the planetary scale, across all time scales. Duties This fixed-term researcher position is part of the Horizon Europe-funded research project VALOR, in which 16 partner institutes collaborate to investigate the impact of land use and climate change on pollinator diversity, ecosystem services, agricultural systems, and socioeconomic resilience in Europe. We are seeking an empirically experienced pollinator ecologist to strengthen the project team and lead the completion of analyses and scientific manuscripts. The researcher will process collected material and analyze and compile results from the project's ecological field studies, and possibly conduct supplementary field studies. The role includes producing and publishing scientific manuscripts based on the project's collected data. The researcher is also expected to participate in annual meetings and other meetings within VALOR and present their work and that of the project team. Requirements Doctorat in environmental science or another subject area relevant to the position At least two years of postdoctoral research experience Very strong, documented knowledge of pollinator ecology Experience leading and conducting field studies focused on pollinators Documented experience publishing scientific articles Additional merits: Experience handling insect samples and species identification Experience with pollen analysis Experience with network analysis for plant-pollinator networks Proficiency with geographic tools for field work planning and geospatial analysis Strong Swedish language skills Class B driver's license We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. Consideration will be given to good collaboration skills, initiative and independence, and how the applicant through their experience and competence is assessed to complement and strengthen the administrative work within the department/institute (and contribute to its future development). Terms Fixed-term employment (1 year) full-time from 2026-10-08, or as soon as possible thereafter. Application Instructions Your application should include a cover letter explaining why you are interested in the position and how the position matches your qualifications, a CV, and any other documents you wish to submit. Applications may be written in English. We welcome your application! At the Faculty of Science, research and education are conducted in astronomy, biology, physics, geosciences, chemistry, mathematics, medical radiation physics, environmental science, and physical geography. The activities are conducted in the northern university area. The Faculty has approximately 1,900 students, 330 doctoral students, and 730 employees.
