The center combines leading technical expertise with advanced knowledge in translational medicine and molecular biosciences. Project Description Through its strategic research program Alpha Cell, SciLifeLab will be able to benefit from the combination of advanced artificial intelligence, large collections of molecular data, and cutting-edge imaging techniques to map cells at a molecular scale and develop predictive AI-based cell models. Duties Lead work on developing methods and processes to generate and process high-resolution cell images using advanced imaging methods, including volume electron microscopy and super-resolution microscopy. The role reports to Marta Carroni, one of the program's lead researchers. Qualifications A researcher is employed primarily for research and must have a doctoral degree or possess a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree. Assessment Criteria Special emphasis will be placed on scientific excellence. Required Qualifications: Doctoral degree in biotechnology. Documented experience leading multidisciplinary teams, including strategic planning and responsibility for budget and resource allocation within research projects. Research expertise in microscopy techniques (FIB-SEM) and development or optimization of these methods. Experience applying advanced imaging techniques to study ultrastructures of subcellular organelles in cells. Experience with collection, management, analysis, and dissemination of large datasets related to light and electron microscopy. Documented experience with development work for image data and machine learning-based analysis methods in research environments as well as development of Open Data platforms. Very good English language skills in both spoken and written form, as all communication in the role is conducted in English. Meritorious: Postdoctoral experience in cell biology. Documented experience building and maintaining multidisciplinary research networks. Experience developing and applying computational methods and software tools for analysis of biological or biomedical data. We are Seeking Someone Who: Is flexible and solution-oriented. About the Position The position is part-time, 20%, and is for an indefinite period with a six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement.
