About the Unit Sensor Company, part of the Air Force's Command and Air Surveillance Battalion, is mobile and has the task of densifying, complementing, and replacing infrastructure for air radio and radar with mobile systems. The company can, at short notice, strengthen radar coverage, air radio coverage, and communications at strategic points throughout the country. Main Responsibilities As a soldier in Radar Platoon, you will be part of a group of soldiers and specialist officers. Your colleagues in the group consist of technicians, combat medics, vehicle drivers, support shooters, and high-altitude workers. Your group leader is a specialist officer. Thus, there is high and diverse expertise in the group and the opportunities for development are good in daily work. The group has significant freedom in how they choose to solve their tasks. The vehicle driver is responsible for transporting the platoon's technical systems on roads as well as in more complex terrain. Training for higher driving license qualifications/operator certifications is included in the position. You will also gain basic knowledge of the platoon's specific systems and how they function and are handled. You will have the opportunity during work time to conduct physical training both individually and together, as well as put your mark on the training and lead training sessions for others. Daily operations are conducted primarily at Uppsala Garrison. However, the company's tasks may require the group to perform work anywhere across Sweden. During these assignments, you and your group often work far away from other parts of the company. Within the Swedish Armed Forces, we always work as a team. Other Information Employment Form Fixed-term employment according to GSS/K agreement, 6 years with the possibility of extension up to 12 years. The unit is part of the Swedish Air Force and is responsible for the operation and surveillance of Uppsala Airport as well as training conscripts in several different positions in the Air Force. The unit also leads the 161st Command and Air Surveillance Battalion which directs fighter aircraft in the air and maintains continuous surveillance of Swedish airspace.
