Do you want to be part of developing places where people meet, learn, and grow? At Folkuniversitetet, we believe in the power of knowledge. We are an independent education organization with roots in the academic world and a mission that goes beyond education itself – to contribute to an open society where people through knowledge and learning have the opportunity to develop and make a difference. In Region Väst, we operate across many locations and conduct a broad range of activities – from folk education and adult education to secondary school, arts and culture. Our facilities are therefore much more than square meters and rental agreements. They are workplaces, learning environments, and meeting places for thousands of people. Now we are seeking a facilities manager who wants to take comprehensive responsibility for these environments while also helping us develop how we use them in the future. About the assignment As facilities manager, you will have overall responsibility for Folkuniversitetet Region Väst's property and facility management work. The assignment covers operations in Värmland, Västra Götaland, and Norra Halland. This naturally means that our facilities should be safe, well-functioning, sustainable, and cost-effective. But the assignment is also about development. How do we use our facilities in the best possible way? How can they support new ways of working and learning? How do we create attractive physical meeting places while the organization's needs are changing? You will therefore move between long-term strategic issues and things that need to be solved here and now. You work closely with our operations and managers, but also with property owners, suppliers, and other external parties. We believe in leading together. That means you naturally take responsibility for your own assignment, but also that you together with other managers take responsibility for the whole. We believe that the best solutions are created when different perspectives meet, when we share knowledge, and when we dare to engage – in a constructive way – even outside our own area. You will lead approximately 8 employees within facilities and service, supported by temporary staff as needed. You have personnel, operational, and results responsibility and report to the Chief of Staff for Finance, Property, and IT. Some parts of your assignment You will, among other things: Develop and implement our property and facility strategy Work long-term with facility planning and how we use our facilities in the best possible way Take responsibility for budget, forecasts, and follow-up within the area Take responsibility for rental agreements, renegotiations, and relationships with our property owners Lead facility projects, renovations, moves, and establishments Develop work with operations, maintenance, and service Take responsibility for procurements, agreements, and supplier management Ensure structured work with fire protection, facility security, alarms, and access systems Together with other parts of the organization, contribute to our sustainability efforts, particularly through energy efficiency and wise use of our facilities Prepare relevant decision-making documents and follow-ups Lead and create good conditions for employees within facilities and service And you will likely discover things that we haven't yet thought of. We see that as an important part of the assignment. Who do we think you are? We believe you like the combination of people, operations, economics, and property management. You have the ability to look beyond the horizon and think long-term, while at the same time understanding that a property management assignment sometimes also involves rolling up your sleeves and solving concrete problems. As a leader, you are confident and clear and create good conditions for others to succeed. We believe in kind leadership – not in the sense of always being accommodating, but in the sense of wanting others well, being clear, listening, and taking responsibility even when it's difficult. And you need to enjoy leading together with others. With us, you are not just a manager of your own area. You are also part of a shared leadership where we expect our managers to contribute their perspectives, be curious about others', and take responsibility for Folkuniversitetet Region Väst as a whole. This sometimes means stepping outside your own area, asking questions, challenging, and helping a colleague – and being open to others doing the same. We value curiosity. We are in development and are not looking for someone who only wants to maintain what we already have, but someone who wants to be part of thinking about what we need going forward. We believe you have Relevant academic education in, for example, property management, construction, or technology, or equivalent knowledge acquired through work experience Several years of experience in qualified work within property management and facility planning Experience with budget, results, and personnel responsibility Knowledge of rental law, occupational health and safety, and systematic fire protection work Experience with project management, procurement, agreements, and supplier management Good digital skills and ability to work systematically with follow-up and decision-making documentation Good ability to express yourself in Swedish in speech and writing Driver's license category B, as our operations are located in several places in the region We will place great emphasis on who you are, how you lead, and how you see the assignment. Why Folkuniversitetet? With us, you get an independent managerial assignment with great opportunities to make an impact. But above all, you get to work in an organization with a clear social mission. Folkuniversitetet has existed for a long time, but our mission is perhaps more relevant than ever. In a time of rapid change, we need places where people can meet, learn new things, develop, and access knowledge throughout their lives. As a facilities manager, you will become an important part in creating those places. Knowledge changes. Do you want to be part of it? About the position The position is a permanent full-time employment based in Gothenburg. We apply a six-month probationary period. Travel within Region Väst's operational area will occur. Start date according to agreement. Application We welcome your application in the form of a CV and cover letter by September 20 via our e-recruitment system.
