Job Description
With us, you will work close to healthcare and contribute to the treatment of seriously ill patients.
In this role, there is also an opportunity to deepen your knowledge of pharmaceutical issues, for example regarding drug stability and durability – work that both strengthens patient safety and can contribute to more sustainable resource utilization.
We are a public operation, which means a stable and long-term mission. With us, you will gain extensive experience, professional development, and engaged colleagues. The work also offers very good working hours and a work-life balance that is hard to beat.
At the Pharmacy Preparation Department at Linköping University Hospital, we work close to healthcare to manufacture individually tailored medications for each patient. With short lead times and high quality requirements, we deliver cytostatic and sterile preparations that are crucial for healthcare treatments – work where pharmacy meets real patient benefit.
We are looking for someone who wants to use their expertise in an operation where quality, responsibility, and collaboration are at the center. You will join a cheerful and engaged team that supports each other and tackles new challenges together. You follow the medication all the way: from pre-checking the order, through manufacturing, to final inspection where quality and patient safety are in focus. Our working hours vary between 07:00-17:00 on weekdays. Once you are confident in all procedures, you will work as an on-call pharmacist on standby. This means that a pharmacist is on call at home to meet healthcare's acute needs outside our operating hours. Don't hesitate – apply for the pharmacy job that is different!
Work Group
The Pharmacy Center has undergone numerous changes over several years and increased many times in scope and mission. The Pharmacy Center comprises three units: clinical pharmacology, hospital pharmacy, and the hospital pharmacy, with employees at all three hospitals in Region Östergötland. The Center also includes research and education at both basic and advanced levels, in line with university healthcare's mission.
The Hospital Pharmacy, to which the pharmacy preparation department belongs, is in an expansive development phase and is building up pharmaceutical inventory management in its own regional operations, with a planned start in early 2028. We have a daily routine that consists of new opportunities and developments – take the chance to become part of it!
About You
You are a licensed pharmacist or pharmacy technician with extemporaneous compounding authorization. For those who are licensed pharmacy technicians but lack extemporaneous compounding authorization, we will offer a course in extemporaneous medication preparation starting December 3, 2026. The course is worth 7.5 college credits and is offered online through Umeå; it provides full extemporaneous compounding authorization.
You have either worked for a few years or are newly graduated. However, it is an asset if you have previously worked in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Fluent Swedish, C1 or C2 level, is a requirement.
Since on-call standby will be part of the position, a driver's license and access to your own car is required if you do not live near the university hospital.
To thrive and fit in with us, your personal qualities are important. As a person, you like to have many balls in the air. You are service-oriented, quality-conscious, and organized, and can prioritize your work in an efficient and thorough manner. The work requires that you can work independently as well as in a team. To successfully complete the tasks we face in our daily work, we need good communication. Therefore, this position suits you if you enjoy collaboration and are responsive and communicative with both colleagues and other healthcare staff. In addition to good teamwork skills, you are expected to be engaged, take initiative, and together with other employees contribute to developing the operation. You have a talent for seeing the bigger picture in the operation and are therefore flexible. Being flexible with us means being able to adapt to the current situation and change focus, which is crucial since unforeseen events occur daily. Since manufacturing is a craft, you also enjoy working with your hands. You see challenges and changes as opportunities for improvement and development.
