Family Counselor

Family Counseling is located in central Halmstad and is part of the Social Administration, Children and Youth Division. We meet daily with couples, families, and individuals during crucial phases of life. The service is an important promotional and preventive function aimed at promoting good family relationships in all their forms and contributing to favorable conditions for children's development. Since Halmstad Municipality has decided to enter into a service agreement regarding municipal family counseling with another municipality, Laholm Municipality, we are now seeking two family counselors for our service. The unit consists of social workers with many years of experience in psychosocial and psychotherapeutic work as well as further education in psychotherapy (at least level 1) and other training. Your Tasks As a family counselor, your task is to help process cohabitation problems and conflicts in family relationships through conversation. This includes crisis intervention, short or longer therapeutic conversations with couples, families, and individuals. You work independently and have your own treatment responsibility and conduct continuous evaluation of the work together with visitors. Family Counseling is for everyone; we meet people with varying socioeconomic backgrounds, different ethnicities and languages, different sexual orientations, and varying values and beliefs, and we therefore need to be able to offer a breadth in working methods. The work also includes outreach promotion and prevention activities. You participate in a joint evening clinic once a week. Your Qualifications To be eligible for the position, you have a degree in social work and basic psychotherapy training (level 1) including supervision and personal therapy, as well as experience in family therapeutic/psychosocial treatment work. Driver's license (category B). Meritorious qualifications include experience working as a family counselor and training in sexology, evaluated couple therapy methods, EFT and IBCT, as well as training and experience in FIT (feedback informed treatment). You communicate fluently in Swedish and are prepared to use digital communication tools if needed. You need to be confident in your competence and comfortable working independently. You need to be receptive and have the ability to collaborate and contribute to developing the service.
