We are looking for you to work with young people at our meeting places—our youth recreation centers for ages 13-17, Youth House Ersboda and Youth House Hamnmagasinet with focus on upper secondary school age. We also run activities for adults with functional variation. Our meeting places are located throughout Umeå municipality including Sävar, Hörnefors, and Holmsund/Obbola and are open evenings, weekdays, and weekends. Our activities are voluntary and based on the target group's perceived needs, ideas, and wishes. Do you want to be one of us? Your Responsibilities You will work in youth activities at Umeå municipality's meeting places. The meeting places have different age divisions and orientations to meet the target group's needs. As a youth recreation assistant, you work to inspire and support young people in taking part and shaping the meeting place's content according to their needs, ideas, and wishes. You contribute together with your colleagues to create safe, drug-free meeting places. You have an important role as a role model for the youth. About You We are looking for someone who is engaged, responsible, and has a genuine interest in working with young people. You are a reliable and positive role model who finds it easy to build good relationships and establish trust. As a person, you are attentive, flexible, and have good collaboration skills. You enjoy working in a team but can also take your own initiative and work independently when needed. You have an inclusive approach and treat everyone with respect and care. We value that you are creative and solution-oriented, and that you can inspire and motivate young people in various activities. You handle challenging situations calmly and confidently and have a strong ability to set boundaries in a clear and respectful way. Great emphasis is placed on personal maturity and suitability. Requirements Passed upper secondary school diploma Fluent Swedish language skills in speaking and writing, as well as good English skills Clean police background check clearance, as required by the aptitude screening law Meritorious Ongoing or completed studies in teaching, social work, sports pedagogy, culture, or other education that the employer deems relevant for the assignment Experience in leadership roles within the non-profit sector Knowledge/interest in various activities such as creative pursuits, games, dance, music, e-sports, sports, baking, or similar Knowledge of languages other than Swedish and English B-class driver's license when working at recreation centers outside the central area, i.e., Sävar, Holmsund/Obbola, and Hörnefors Please indicate in your application if you prefer work in any of our outlying areas and if so, which one(s). Employment Information Multiple positions as hourly employment (intermittent employment as needed) starting in fall 2026, initially through summer 2027. These positions involve no fixed schedule; you will be contacted when needs arise. Work hours are scheduled for evenings and weekends.
