I'm currently looking for someone who wants to become part of my everyday life and work as a personal assistant in Lund! What does the job as a personal assistant involve?
As a personal assistant, you work with a person who has a functional variation. You help with everyday tasks that many take for granted, such as getting dressed, taking care of the home, personal hygiene, and participating in leisure activities. You make a big difference and help another person's daily life function.
We have clients of different ages and with different functional variations. Your workplace is where the client is located, and the job is both varied and eventful. Contributing every day to enabling a person to live their life as they wish is what we believe is the world's most important job.
What does this position involve?
I'm a 13-year-old boy living in a house in northeastern Lund with my mom and dad. I have autism and intellectual disability, which means I need constant supervision when you work with me. I don't communicate verbally; I use an iPad with pictures to communicate. I'm happy to hold your hand, point, and show you what I want. I really enjoy playing with balls, running in the garden, being out in the forest, reading books, and dancing to music. On weekdays I attend an adapted school, so my assistant will mainly work in the afternoons/evenings and on weekends. It would be beneficial if you are studying or have another job that you can combine with the times at my place.
Who are we looking for?
Most important to me is that you are curious, engaged, and want to work with me because you genuinely want to. I also see that you are playful, open-minded, and a warm person. I'm looking for someone who wants to learn more about autism and is open to learning the methods my parents and I work with. You will receive guidance in the method from my parents when you are trained as my assistant. You should be calm and have good patience to work well with me. I don't do well in stressful situations.
I would appreciate it if you have the intention and ability to stay for a couple of years, as it is extremely difficult for me to switch assistants. Of course, unforeseen things can happen and we need to get along, but the ambition from the start is to see this as something long-term.
We would like it if you:
Have experience in personal assistance.
Previous experience with autism. Advantageous but not required.
Speak Swedish well.
A driver's license is an advantage, but not required.
Combine the job with studies or other activities.
Other information
Employment form: Hourly employment or fixed-term employment
Schedule: Tuesdays or Thursdays 14:15-16:45 and Saturday or Sunday 14:00-17:00. Additional times as needed occur, plus more times during school breaks when assistant support is high (primarily Christmas break and summer break.)
Start date: Immediate
We apply individual salary setting and have a collective agreement. Interviews are held on a rolling basis and the position may be filled before the final application deadline. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
Before a potential employment, you must be able to demonstrate that you are a Swedish citizen, EU/EES citizen, or have permanent residence status. This is done by presenting valid documents confirming this.
