At the Swedish Migration Agency, we work on one of our time's major societal issues – migration. In total, we are approximately 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job! The Swedish Migration Agency's overseas section is now seeking experts for the control function of overseas units to contribute to the agency's knowledge building regarding abuse and crime with a focus on geographical risks. The control function is currently linked to overseas unit 3 with an orientation that the function should become an independent unit. About the Control Function The control function at the overseas units is part of the national operations department and contributes to the agency's knowledge building regarding the prevention and counteraction of abuse, security threats, welfare crimes, and serious organized crime. The function provides information and mappings of risks, trends, and methods linked to various countries and regions in the world. The work is carried out in close cooperation with other parts of the agency and migration activities at overseas authorities. Work Tasks As an expert, you work as part of a team that, based on the agency's needs, collects, processes, and presents information needed in the agency's case review, as well as in the broader work of preventing and counteracting abuse. Your work tasks include, among other things: Conduct country-specific structured mappings and other information gathering from abroad Follow up on tips and indications of abuse linked to specific countries or regions Support the Migration Agency's other control organization and operational activities with knowledge that can prevent and hinder misuse of migration processes Develop working methods linked to country-specific risks of abuse and crime Who Are You? To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone who works in a structured and analytical manner with good judgment. You take your own initiatives and drive your work independently while contributing to the team's joint results through good cooperation and a trustworthy approach. You find it easy to build relationships and collaborate with different functions, both within and outside the agency. Furthermore, you communicate clearly and adapt your communication so that complex information becomes clear and useful for different recipients. This also means that you can present the results of your work in a supportive and educational manner. You find it easy to analyze complex information, can identify patterns, assess information from different sources, and translate your analyses into well-substantiated assessments and decision-making support. The role also requires that you can plan, prioritize, and make well-balanced decisions even in complex situations. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability. In our work as civil servants, high standards are also placed on judgment and a high level of security and confidentiality awareness. You Who Are Applying Have Academic education of at least 180 credits with a legal, social, or behavioral science focus, or other education in combination with relevant and current experience. Multi-year and current experience working with information gathering, investigation, and analysis within government operations. Current experience writing and presenting reports. Experience of international assignments. Very good communication skills and express yourself well orally and in writing in Swedish and English. Swedish citizenship. It Is Meritorious If You Have Experience working with control and abuse issues. Experience in network building – nationally and internationally. Good knowledge of migration issues as well as the Migration Agency's mandate, activities, and processes. Knowledge of additional languages beyond Swedish and English. The position involves travel both nationally and internationally. Since mappings will be carried out partly abroad, official travel may be required ranging from a few weeks to a couple of months. A security vetting with record check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) will precede the employment decision, which is why Swedish citizenship is required for this position.
