About the Company
GKN Aerospace Sweden is part of GKN Aerospace, which manufactures engine components, aircraft structures, cabin windows, wiring and much more for many of the world's aircraft. The companies in the Aerospace division that work with aircraft engine parts together form Engines, and at our facility in Trollhättan we develop and manufacture advanced engine components for aircraft and space rockets. We also work with engine maintenance.
At GKN Aerospace, you become part of a global company where technology, innovation and collaboration are central drivers. You will work in a future-oriented industry with good development opportunities, both professionally and personally. We offer competitive terms, secure employment and a work environment where your contribution makes a real difference.
About the Role
Do you want to work with advanced aircraft engines and help develop the propulsion systems of the future? We are now looking for an engineer specializing in engine performance to join an engaged team working with both today's and tomorrow's aircraft engines.
You will become part of the Performance department, which works with propulsion systems and gas turbine technology – primarily related to the RM12/RM16 engines in JAS 39 Gripen, but also stationary gas turbines and future engine concepts.
Here, analysis, system understanding and technology development are combined in an environment where your expertise truly makes a difference.
Your Role
In this position, you will work across the entire chain of engine performance – from analysis and modeling to testing and concept development.
You will, among other things:
Analyze aircraft engine performance and operational limits
Work with system modeling and concept studies
Evaluate data from flight and engine tests
Contribute to the development of next-generation engine concepts
Support customers and operations with technical expertise
Participate in the development of methodology, tools and working methods
The role offers the opportunity to work both close to operating technology and in early concept phases – where solutions for the future are shaped.
What We're Looking For
We believe you are an engineer driven by the desire to understand how complex systems really work.
You have:
Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics or similar
At least 3 years of relevant experience
Good understanding of jet engines/gas turbines and aerodynamics
Experience with system modeling or technical analysis
Good communication skills in Swedish and English
Desirable Qualifications
Experience from the aviation or defense industry
Programming/scripting (e.g., Python, Matlab, C++, Fortran)
Experience with gas turbine simulation tools (e.g., Gasturb, NPSS, Proosis)
For You to Thrive in the Role, We Believe You Are:
Curious and genuinely interested in technology
Analytical with strong system understanding
Collaboration-oriented and communicative
Confident in taking responsibility and driving your work forward
You thrive at the intersection of theory and reality – where models meet test data and actual engine operation.
This position requires that you undergo and are approved according to applicable security clearance regulations at any given time. For positions where Permanova/GKN's customer has requirements for security classification, this may, if applicable, entail requirements for certain citizenship.
Application
In this recruitment, GKN Aerospace is collaborating with Skill.
Due to vacation periods, feedback on your application may take longer than usual. Selection will begin no later than August. If you have questions about the position or the recruitment process, you are welcome to contact the responsible recruiter Johan Zizala at [email protected]
