The Swedish Geotechnical Institute (SGI) is an expert authority working toward safe, efficient, and sustainable construction and sustainable use of land and natural resources. We are looking for someone with professional experience who is interested in contributing to reducing the risks of rockfalls and landslides. SGI provides geotechnical support to municipalities and county administrative boards in planning and construction processes to long-term reduce risks in the built environment and distributes state grants for preventive measures in the Göta älv area. We work with both research and consulting and knowledge transfer to contribute to safe and sustainable societal development. Society's need for support in preventing risks and preventing damage from natural disasters such as rockfalls, landslides, and erosion has increased and will continue to increase as a result of development and ongoing climate change. We therefore see increased demand for our support regarding geotechnical issues, including in planning processes. 1 position(s). JOB DUTIES Your responsibilities will include providing support to municipalities, county administrative boards, and authorities on geotechnical matters in planning processes. You will also lead stability investigations and support municipalities along the Göta älv when they design measures against rockfalls, landslides, and erosion. You will be part of SGI's Planning Unit, which handles matters relating to detailed and comprehensive plans, infrastructure planning, and cases from the Land and Environment Court. Your duties also include developing our operations and participating in cross-agency collaborations. This leads to external contacts primarily with authorities and municipalities. The work involves, in addition to leading your own assignments, also participating in others' assignments within SGI's operations. The person hired will be part of SGI's emergency response organization, which provides geotechnical support, particularly to rescue services in the event of or at early indications of rockfalls or landslides. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who has: • a civil engineering degree in Civil Engineering from a technical university or equivalent qualifications that the employer deems equivalent • strong geotechnical knowledge of slope stability in areas with loose clay and quick clay • experience with geotechnical investigation work and design It is a merit if you have experience with geotechnical work in the execution phase of geotechnical measures and/or from work within another government agency and knowledge of the planning process.
