The Social Services Department is responsible for providing support, care and assistance to people at different stages of life. We work based on the individual's needs and offer services based on several laws, including the Social Services Act (SoL), the Act on Support and Services for Certain Persons with Disabilities (LSS) and the Health and Medical Services Act.
This can mean providing elderly people with a safe and meaningful everyday life, supporting people with functional disabilities or being there for children, young people and adults in vulnerable life situations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Do you want to lead and develop future elderly care?
As a unit manager for special housing, you will have a key role in creating security, quality and participation for residents. You lead and engage a team of employees and work to ensure that each individual receives a dignified and meaningful life in a safe environment.
We are in an exciting development phase. During 2027, Varberg Municipality will take over the operation of two special housing facilities that were previously run by private companies. At the same time, we continue to develop and strengthen our management organization to meet future needs with high quality, close leadership and great commitment.
Therefore, we are now looking for three unit managers who want to be part of our journey and lead operations where care, quality and people's well-being are in focus. You will become part of the management for special housing together with an engaged and experienced group of unit managers. Here collaboration is characterized by trust, lack of pretense and a strong drive to develop the business – always with high professionalism and a good sense of humor. You report directly to the department head.
As a unit manager for special housing, you are responsible for leading, planning and developing the operations in accordance with the municipality's goals, values and applicable legislation. You have personnel, budget and work environment responsibility and work both operatively and strategically to ensure care and support of high quality.
The role includes, among other things:
- Lead, plan and develop the work at the special housing facility in accordance with the Social Services Act (SoL) and the municipality's values.
- Take responsibility for personnel matters such as recruitment, introduction, scheduling and skills development.
- Monitor and analyze the operations' quality, finances and results.
- Ensure that documentation and routines comply with applicable laws and guidelines.
- Support and motivate employees in participation and development.
- Collaborate with relatives, healthcare personnel, authorities and other actors to create the best possible care.
- Participate in the department's development work and contribute to improved processes and methods.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with higher education in healthcare, care, social work or other education that the employer deems equivalent. You have experience in leadership, preferably within elderly care or special housing, and are accustomed to working with personnel and budget responsibility.
You are a confident and clear leader who creates engagement, participation and joy in work. You have good knowledge of the Social Services Act (SoL), work environment legislation and quality management. To succeed in the role, you need to be communicative, structured and have a strong interest in development and improvement. You have good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both spoken and written.
