Job Description Would you like to develop as a leader while working closely with staff and young people? Then you should work as a unit manager at SiS! As a unit manager, you have an important and exciting role with significant responsibility. We are now recruiting a unit manager for a permanent position. SiS Youth Institution Tysslinge is a high-security facility that serves young people with high risks of threats, violence, and evasion. The institution has a total of seven departments that admit young people placed under the Care of Young People Act (LVU) and youth sentenced under the Closed Youth Care Act (LSU). One of the departments consists of places for young people who are cared for in isolation (VIE) for a period. The majority of our young people are often in a legal proceeding or already convicted of serious crimes and have connections to criminal networks. As a unit manager, you plan, lead, and follow up on work with your staff within the treatment area. You have personnel, financial, and operational responsibility as well as overall treatment responsibility in the department. As a unit manager, you have a work environment responsibility, which is why knowledge of work environment is important. You are part of the management group and report directly to the institution director. You work together with your group leader and treatment secretary to ensure that the staff group works toward common goals in accordance with guidelines and the young people's individual treatment plans. You also actively work with the guidelines we have regarding security and are responsible for ensuring that employees work in accordance with current procedures. At the institution, there is significant collaboration between unit managers, as well as with the school and other treatment personnel such as psychologists and nurses. External contacts are made with social services, authorities, and relatives. You are responsible for ensuring legally sound care, which means that legal application, case handling, and actual actions are lawful, clear, and predictable. Furthermore, you are responsible for quality assuring your operations through, for example, documentation and deviations, ensuring good information dissemination, and fostering skills development in both yourself and your staff. As a unit manager, you may be part of the institution's management on-call team, which means you substitute for the institution director during evenings and weekends according to a rotating schedule. Together with the management group, you also continuously work on monitoring goal achievement. Benefits Please read about our benefits as an employee at: https://www.stat-inst.se/jobba-hos-oss/formaner/ Qualifications You should: Have an academic degree of at least 180 credits in social science, behavioral science, or health science, or other academic education that the employer deems equivalent Have several years of experience working in operations focused on care, treatment, and security, such as correctional services, social services, care and treatment, or other relevant operations Well-documented suitability for leadership Documented current experience in a leadership role Managerial experience with budget, personnel, and work environment responsibility Communicative, with strong ability to express yourself well, both verbally and in writing, in Swedish Meriting: It is meriting to have experience working as a manager at SiS or another state authority working with deprivation of liberty, such as the Correctional Service, Police, or Migration Agency We place great emphasis on personal suitability. You are calm and professional even in demanding situations and have the ability to adapt to changed circumstances. At the same time, high demands are placed on you to have a holistic perspective and to work in a structured and systematic way to ensure quality in care based on the authority's goals, guidelines, values, and applicable laws. You know how to prioritize and have an ease for setting goals and following up results. It is meriting if you are trained in developmental leadership or equivalent. As a manager and leader with us, your daily work will be filled with varying tasks, which may also shift in focus over time.
