We are now seeking an experienced and action-oriented leader who wants to be unit chief for the emergency services strategic unit. Duties As unit chief of the strategic unit, you are responsible for leading, coordinating, and developing emergency services operations from a comprehensive and long-term perspective. The assignment complements operational response activities and aims to create conditions for high quality, good structure, and long-term sustainability. You have financial, operational, personnel, and work environment responsibility for the unit's strategic functions. Within the unit, employees work with, among other things, deployment planning, accident investigation, vehicle and property matters, investments, and emergency services under heightened alert status. The role also includes initiating, driving, and leading development and improvement projects within the department's area of responsibility. You are also responsible for developing and further developing comprehensive governing documents, monitoring operations, ensuring goal achievement, and for preparing and responding to referrals related to emergency services operations. The emergency services and the municipality's alarm center are organized as a department under the municipal administration office. As unit chief, you are part of the department's management group and collaborate closely with other unit chiefs in developing operations as a whole. In the role, you represent emergency services in local, regional, and national cooperation forums, where Cooperation MittNorrland is an important partner. You actively contribute to developing cooperation and common capability together with other actors. The emergency services in Örnsköldsvik are also part of the emergency management system Rescue Region MittNorrland (RRMN), which includes all emergency services organizations in Jämtland and Västernorrland counties as well as parts of Västerbotten and Norrbotten counties. Qualifications We are looking for someone with documented experience leading operations and employees in a management role. Good IT competence and very good knowledge of Swedish. Driver's license category B It is meritorious if you have experience working in municipal emergency services and thereby good understanding of emergency services' mission and operations. It is also meritorious to have education in the field, such as Fire Engineer, Protection Against Accidents (SMO), or one of MCF's management training programs. In our municipality, a number of positions are classified in security class, so security clearance may be conducted. These positions may require Swedish citizenship.
