One of our teams within social support services is now seeking an engaged and confident unit manager who wants to lead the operation forward together with competent employees and who wants to contribute to developing support for Jönköping residents during a time when the mission is changing and being intensified. Your New Job Effective July 1, 2026, a national activity requirement will be introduced within social support services, meaning that individuals who have received support for an extended period will be offered and expected to participate in activities that strengthen the path to work, studies, and self-sufficiency. This reform creates new demands on collaboration, operational development, and lawful case management. As a unit manager, you will have a central role in leading the implementation, developing effective work methods, and creating good conditions for both employees and residents. Together, we work toward increased participation, reduced exclusion, and more pathways to self-sufficiency. In your role as unit manager, you are responsible for leading, developing, and monitoring operations within the social support services area. You have personnel, work environment, budget, and operational responsibility and work closely with other managers and collaboration partners both internally and externally. You create conditions for employees to succeed in their assignments and drive development work with residents' wellbeing in focus. As a unit manager, you will, among other things: lead and distribute work within the unit be responsible for personnel, work environment, and finances ensure lawful case management in accordance with legislation and guidelines in the field work with quality and development issues support and coach employees in daily work collaborate with other operations, authorities, and external actors contribute to strategic development within the social support services area Your Qualifications We are seeking someone with a completed and approved social work degree or other completed and approved relevant bachelor's degree of at least 180 credits. Further, you have several years of experience in social work within government administration, preferably in economic assistance/social support, documented management experience from a politically governed organization including responsibility for operations, budget, and personnel. You have good knowledge of relevant legislation in the field and experience driving successful development and change initiatives. As a leader, you are direct and clear in your communication and practice close leadership while leveraging employees' abilities. Your work is characterized by structure and planning in a way that contributes to security and predictability for employees. You have experience collaborating with others with good results. Thinking creatively and being skilled at implementing and managing change are qualities we value highly. A Class B driver's license is required. Great weight is placed on personal suitability. Read more about our benefits here Welcome to Us Individual and Family Services is part of the Social Services Department and is organized into three areas: child and youth services, adult services, and social support services and integration. The Social Support Services and Integration area comprises economic assistance, integration housing, immigrant and refugee services, budget and debt counseling, and interpreting services. The area employs approximately 95 employees distributed across six units, each with its own unit manager. There are also employees responsible for investigating incorrect payments and operational development. Good to Know In this recruitment, 1 permanent position, full-time, is being filled with start date by agreement. A probationary period may be applied. Assessment tools will be used.
