Your responsibilities
As a unit manager, you have overall responsibility for leading, developing, and following up on operations within food control and health protection. You lead, support, and coach a group of just over 15 competent case handlers and inspectors. Together, you work to ensure quality and develop operations, with the goal of conducting effective public administration with high legal certainty.
The inspectors work within their respective specialist areas based on the Environmental Code and food legislation. In your role, you serve as a resource in complex assessments and contribute to consistency in case handling. You also have responsibility for the work environment, finances, and results and follow-up.
You thrive in an operation that is affected by changes in legislation, public mandates, and the external environment. You combine strategic and operational work and have an important role in translating changes into functioning work methods. You also represent the administration in various collaboration groups, both within the city and externally. The role means that you are a central part of the administration's management and actively contribute to strategic decisions, operational development, and the administration's long-term direction. We value open collaboration where we share knowledge, support each other, and jointly take responsibility for the whole.
Your competence
You have the ability to create engagement, coordinate people, and contribute to good collaboration. You are clear in your communication, have a holistic perspective, and can switch between strategic issues and day-to-day leadership. You are confident in making decisions, prioritizing when needed, and creating structure in an operation with many contact points. As a person, you are receptive, unpretentious, and have a constructive approach in dialogue with both employees and external actors.
We are looking for you with experience from public administration or other operations with similar requirements for legal certainty, quality, and professional assessments. You may have worked within environment and health protection, the food sector, or other related operations that have given you relevant knowledge and understanding of the assignment. You have experience leading, coordinating, or developing operations and employees. Previous management experience is meritorious, but we also welcome you who have held a supervisory role and are ready to take the next step in your leadership. You have good digital skills and express yourself very well in Swedish, both orally and in writing. You have higher education relevant to the position and knowledge of administrative law, public access, and confidentiality. If you have experience from municipal operations, it is meritorious.
