The Environment and Health Unit is part of the Building and Environment Department, which is part of the Community Development Administration. The unit's main mission is to provide advice, assessment, and supervision of various activities and environments. We are seeking a unit manager who wants to develop the business together with us! As a unit manager in the Building and Environment Department, you have an important role in the municipality's future and actively contribute to ensuring that our community development results in growth and development in a responsible manner. As unit manager for the Environment and Health Unit, you can expect an inspiring working life with constantly new challenges. The unit currently has 25 employees. The unit is responsible for supervision, assessment, information, and advice in the areas of environment and health protection, nature conservation, alcohol/tobacco, and food. As the business develops, a need for a changed leadership structure has been identified. We therefore plan to also recruit a new position that, together with the unit manager, will contribute to shared leadership responsibility. The exact division of responsibilities is being developed, which means that the role has good opportunities to develop and be shaped according to the business's needs. You will be responsible for ensuring that the unit has clear goals, strategies, and action plans based on the board's and the business's assignment, the administration's and department's operational plans, and the management group's assignment. You contribute to creating a cohesive community development administration characterized by clear service culture that actively works for the best interests of the municipal group. As a unit manager, you are responsible for creating an inspiring environment that motivates employees to work according to established guidelines, procedures, and goals in accordance with applicable legislation and the municipality's/board's goals. You work towards good relationships and promote good cooperation with both internal and external stakeholders. It also includes working with development, follow-up, and strategies at the department level in the joint management group. The job duties include delegated personnel, finance, and work environment responsibility. Systematic work environment efforts are a natural part of daily work and cover all physical, psychological, and social conditions that are important to the work environment. As a manager, you are tasked with leading and coordinating the business's resources within given financial frameworks in close contact with other unit managers and the department head. Your immediate supervisor is the head of the Building and Environment Department, and you are part of the department's management group. Qualifications We are looking for you with academic education in environment and health protection or other education deemed equivalent. Experience with supervision and case handling within the unit's area is advantageous. Leadership experience with budget and personnel responsibility is advantageous, as is experience in public administration or government work. As a unit manager, you are clear, goal-oriented, and have a good ability to communicate. Leadership involves creating engagement and motivation. You utilize employees' knowledge so that both employees and the business develop. You are improvement-focused and driven by business development for maximum public benefit. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability for the position. A driving license, category B, is a requirement. In connection with the interview, we will conduct an identity check and verify citizenship. Acceptable documents are passport, international ID card, driver's license + proof of identity from the Swedish Tax Agency or other ID document that verifies citizenship. For some positions, a statement from the police's suspicion and conviction register must be presented. We would like to see language skills in Finnish and/or one of the Sami varieties, as Örnsköldsvik Municipality is part of both the Finnish and Sami administrative areas. In our municipality, a number of positions are classified as security positions, so security screening may be carried out.
