Kulturskolan Stockholm is in an exciting development phase. We are developing our operations to reach more children and young people, broaden our offerings, and create an even more accessible and relevant cultural school across the city. As part of this, a major reorganization is now underway with the goal of creating even better conditions for leadership, collaboration, and operational development close to the activities. Now we're looking for a unit manager for our newly established Northern Inner City unit. Here you'll have the opportunity to shape the operations in an early stage while leading a comprehensive and established operation. At Kulturskolan Stockholm, children and young people ages 6–22 have that space. Here they get the opportunity for creative activities in their free time in one of the cultural school's many subjects within music, singing, theater, musical, dance, circus, art, and media. Through various events, large and small, students can perform for an audience. Teaching is provided in our own facilities as well as in schools and other external locations across Stockholm. Your Role As a unit manager, you have overall responsibility for operations, finances, personnel, working environment, and facilities within your unit. You lead, plan, and follow up on operations while playing an important role in further developing and shaping the operation. Several parts of Kulturskolan are undergoing development, which means you need to be comfortable in building phases where work methods, collaboration, and structure continue to evolve over time. This role suits you if you're motivated by driving change, creating direction, and building long-term sustainable operations together with others. The role involves responsibility for budget, staffing, scheduling, and resource planning in a daily routine with many parallel issues and varying tasks. Financial accountability and the ability to prioritize and use resources in a sustainable and business-like manner are important parts of the assignment. You're also responsible for collaboration with schools, district administrations, libraries, youth centers, and other external partners. The role involves many contact points and requires a strong ability to navigate a large and complex organization. You're part of Kulturskolan's management team and report to the area manager. Start date is at the turn of the year 2026. Your Competence and Experience We're looking for you with: a university degree in, for example, pedagogy, culture, economics, or social sciences, or other education combined with experience that the employer deems equivalent management experience with responsibility for operations, budget, personnel, and working environment experience with educational activities or activities directed toward children and young people experience with change and development work experience working in complex organizations good financial understanding and familiarity with administrative systems very good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing good digital competence It's a merit if you have: experience in a management position within the school system, for example, in primary school, secondary school, or adult education experience from a cultural school, study association, or similar organization experience working in the public sector You're accustomed to working goal and results-oriented with a holistic perspective and have the ability to combine strategic thinking with close and present leadership in daily operations. You have experience leading change processes in an inclusive way that creates sustainable results. You perceive changes in the external environment and take initiative for development. Based on a strong task and user focus, you can lead your employees so that the unit develops a cultural school that is accessible and relevant. As a person, you're clear, solution-oriented, and collaboration-focused. You lead with both courage and responsiveness and have the ability to create engagement and direction even during periods of change. You thrive in dynamic environments and find it easy to switch between strategic issues and operational daily work. We place great importance on personal qualities and leadership ability. Other Information The Culture Administration applies a model with time-limited management assignments of three years at a time with a permanent employment as base employment.
