We are one of Sweden's eight adult education associations and operate throughout the country at approximately 70 local offices. The organization consists of seven non-profit associations – a national organization and six regions – with activities in adult education, commissioned services, and preschool/school. We offer adult education through our own initiatives and together with our member organizations, associations, and collaboration partners. Medborgarskolan Mitt covers the counties of Värmland, Örebro, Västmanland, Uppsala, Södermanland, Gävleborg, and Dalarna. The region has 9 local offices, several music houses, approximately 65 employees, and approximately 750 course and study group leaders. We also operate Kullerbyttans preschool in Säffle, Ekeby school in Sunne, Karlstads Globala Gymnasium, and Dansskola Entré. Unit Manager for Medborgarskolan Mitt's Eastern Geography Adult education and commissioned activities are divided into two geographical areas: the western part (Värmland, Örebro, Dalarna) is led by a unit manager based in Karlstad. The unit manager for the eastern area (Västmanland, Uppsala, Södermanland, and Gävleborg) is based in Uppsala. The 15 employees are located at different sites; the position requires some daily commuting to offices in Gävle, Västerås, and Eskilstuna. The region's headquarters are in Örebro. You report to the regional director and adult education director and are part of the management group. About the Role You are responsible for leading and developing adult education and commissioned activities in Medborgarskolan Mitt in close collaboration with your unit manager colleague, specifically in the specified geography. You have overall responsibility for budget/finances and personnel and ensure that work is conducted in accordance with applicable regulations, goals, and quality requirements. You also ensure that the region contributes to meeting Medborgarskolan's commitment for adult education, which we work on together at the national level in three-year cycles. You work closely with operations to support employees, drive development initiatives, and contribute to increased goal achievement and long-term sustainability. The assignment also includes strengthening our local presence and maintaining existing and developing new collaborations in the region. Main Responsibilities Lead, motivate, and develop employees and drive change initiatives Personnel and attestation responsibility Lead, plan, and follow up on activities, quality, and goals Manage and support employees in finance/budget, follow-up, and administration Ensure progress, drive activity development Ensure quality and regulatory compliance Streamline and develop work methods and routines, manage implementation Work actively with profitable business and activity development Build and develop networks with municipalities, associations, authorities, and the business community Collaborate with the federation office and other regions Environmental monitoring Qualifications University degree or equivalent in a relevant field Documented leadership experience, personnel responsibility, and change management Documented experience with financial responsibility, budget and follow-up work at a corresponding level Documented experience with quality work Experience in project management and activity/business development Good local knowledge and established networks within the business community, public sector, or association sector in the region Good IT and system proficiency Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing Meriting Experience Experience from: organizations of similar size or structure adult education associations or other mission-driven activities market-based activities and publicly funded activities, as well as work with grant financing adult education activities at an operational level, for example as an activity developer or activity manager activity development within adult education sales and/or marketing Personal Qualities Collaborative: works effectively with others, seeks collaboration from an operational and strategic perspective Structured and results-oriented: plans, prioritizes, and meets deadlines Analytical: can independently gather, interpret, and use information as a basis for decision-making Communicative: expresses yourself well orally and in writing, makes complex information understandable Clear and confident leader: inspires, engages, and creates direction in change You are attentive, unpretentious, and accessible, leading with engagement and trust-based leadership. You have an understanding and interest in the bigger picture and contribute to ensuring goal achievement and improved profitability.
