Ferlin is located in Löten in Uppsala and is an elderly care facility with 70 apartments distributed over four floors. There are units for people with physical care needs, dementia, and social psychiatric needs. The facility has its own garden and large balconies that provide excellent opportunities for activities and outdoor time. Ersta diakoni has been operating Ferlin on behalf of Uppsala municipality since September 2026.

About the role
As a unit manager at Ferlin, you have overall responsibility for your unit and are responsible for staff, work environment, quality, and finances. You are part of the management group, report to the operations manager, and work closely with your management colleagues.
This is an operationally focused management role. You need to understand what happens in daily operations, be available for your staff, and identify both what works well and what needs improvement. At the same time, you need to step back, monitor results, and drive sustainable improvements.
An important part of your role is creating good conditions for staff to do their work. You lead, prioritize, and follow up, but also create participation and leverage the expertise within the team. In close collaboration with healthcare personnel and other colleagues, you work toward integrated care with the resident at the center.
You work weekdays without weekend shifts from 07:00–15:30. Term-wise, evening meetings and family meetings also occur.
Who are you?
We are looking for you as a confident and clear leader who enjoys leading hands-on operations. You build trust by being attentive and available, while being comfortable making decisions, setting direction, and having the conversations that are needed.
You get people on board and create participation without losing focus on the mission. When many things happen at once, you can prioritize, create structure, and translate plans into practice. You are also curious about how operations can develop and use follow-ups and results to understand what works and what needs to change.
Your experience
We are looking for you who have:
experience working as an operational manager or leader in healthcare and social care
education in healthcare and social care, for example as a nursing assistant
experience working in elderly care
good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing
good digital skills.
It is meritorious if you have:
completed the training "Leadership for elderly care managers" (30 credits), or other leadership training we consider equivalent
experience in care for people with cognitive impairment
experience working with the scheduling software Medvind
training in BPSD
experience in social psychiatry.
