The Finance Unit is part of the Finance Department and has a total of nine employees, including one unit manager. The Finance Unit's main tasks and areas of responsibility include accounting and financial statements, budgeting and forecasting, financial monitoring and analysis, ongoing invoicing and management of incoming supplier invoices, support to operations in all matters related to finance, and development and improvement of financial processes.
The Finance Department is the hub for all finance and procurement-related matters and consists of specialists in finance and procurement. Together, the department forms a central resource that guides and supports all administrations and their managers in managing and developing finance and procurement matters at both strategic and operational levels.

WORK DUTIES
As unit manager, you will have overall responsibility for the Finance Unit's operations and budget, as well as personnel and work environment responsibility for eight employees. You will participate in the department's management group and report directly to the department manager.
The role includes both leading and direct participation in operational accounting, reporting, monitoring and analytical work. This means overall responsibility for planning and directing the ongoing financial work, as well as direct operational responsibility for certain parts of it.
The municipality is also facing procurement and implementation of a new financial system where the unit manager has a central coordinating role in this project.
Your work duties include, among other things:
• plan, prioritize and follow up on the Finance Unit's work based on the municipality's goals and needs
• actively participate in ongoing financial work with accounting, financial statements, reporting, and financial monitoring and analysis
• ensure quality, efficiency and compliance in financial processes
• be a qualified support to municipal management, managers and operations on financial matters
• drive development and efficiency improvements in work procedures, processes and routines
• lead the Finance Unit's work with procurement, introduction and implementation of the new financial system
• cooperate with internal and external actors and contribute to the municipality's overall development work.
QUALIFICATIONS
• higher education in finance or other education that can be assessed as relevant for the position
• previously held a management position
If you additionally have the following, this is meriting:
• strong knowledge of accounting, financial management and budgeting processes
• previous experience with procurement and implementation of new financial systems
• previous experience working in municipal operations or other politically governed organization
• knowledge of labor law, occupational health and safety legislation, and experience with union cooperation and negotiations.
