About Us The Specialist Medicine operational area at Sahlgrenska provides outpatient and inpatient care within sections for pulmonology and allergology, hematology and coagulation, diabetology and endocrinology, gastroenterology and hepatology, clinical nutrition, as well as occupational and environmental medicine. The operational area has extensive assignments within highly specialized care but is also responsible for regional healthcare for parts of Gothenburg. Research and education are conducted within all sections. The administrative function at the Specialist Medicine operational area was restructured in 2026 through the merger of two units and now consists of nearly 60 employees under the leadership of two unit managers and two section leaders. The unit's mandate is undergoing transformation; healthcare documentation remains the primary part of the assignment, but digitalization, management support, and patient, personnel, and systems administration are growing responsibilities. About the Position The rapid digitalization currently underway in Swedish healthcare places high demands on healthcare administrative functions to not only adapt to new conditions but also actively participate in driving development. As unit manager, you are responsible for leading this work at the unit level. Close collaboration with section and care unit managers and their employee groups is essential for success. Together with your management colleague, you have personnel and work environment responsibility for all unit employees. As a manager in our organization, you are expected to, among other things: Develop and follow up on goals. Conduct operational development. Work toward a balanced budget. Give employees opportunities for participation, a holistic perspective, responsibility, and the ability to take own initiatives. Promote research and education. The management position involves shared leadership, which means that tasks and responsibilities are shared with a management colleague. You will have considerable freedom in deciding how to distribute the work between you. You report directly to the operational manager and will be part of Specialist Medicine's management group, which means you will be engaged in the entire operational area's results and development. This also means you will have access to a supportive management group working toward a common goal. The position involves a time-limited five-year management assignment with a permanent position in your base profession. About You An academic background such as a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree is meriting. We are looking for someone with education in administration, healthcare, or other education that the employer deems relevant for the position. Previous experience as a manager within healthcare is meriting. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and experience with development and change management. You act as trustworthy both within your own unit, in the management group, and in challenging situations. You have a clear goal and results focus, plan, organize, and complete your commitments. You are genuinely interested in supporting and leading others. You are clear and able to communicate your message in an engaged and convincing manner. You have a manner that promotes contacts, collaboration, and cooperation. As a manager, you are a role model for your employees and loyal to your employer.
