Jönköping Municipality is a large employer with hundreds of different professional roles. We grow as the municipality develops with more residents, more housing, and greater offerings. We are always looking for new expertise - employees with different backgrounds and experiences, united by the drive to create a better municipality to visit, live, work, and reside in.
Are you a trustworthy leader with strong commitment to employee development and business growth? Do you have vehicle technical expertise and experience in the trucking and machinery contractor industry? Do you want to help develop Sweden's ninth largest municipality? Then you have a job to apply for!
Your New Position
As a unit manager, you lead a trucking operation consisting of skilled drivers, vehicle managers, and transport coordinators. The trucking operation is an internal service function that supports the municipality's activities with vehicles, machinery, and drivers for tasks including winter road maintenance, water system flushing, excavation work, crane operations, and paving. The unit rents out machinery and vehicles to the municipality's various departments, and your technical expertise becomes key to providing the operations with what they need.
In this role, you are supported by a vehicle manager and a transport planner to ensure that vehicles and equipment are in roadworthy and fully functional condition in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Other common tasks include purchasing and procurement of vehicles and equipment for the operation, as well as serving as an expert on vehicle technical matters for other departments. You also have an important role in the municipality's civil preparedness and continuity work.
The role includes responsibility for personnel, work environment, and budget, with tasks in recruitment and onboarding of new employees, rehabilitation and job adaptation, involvement in salary setting and salary reviews, systematic workplace safety work, and employee development.
You are part of the management team for Technical Service and report to the Operations Manager. Your workplace is based at Vägporten.
In your daily work, you will collaborate with fellow managers, coordinators, and employees. Of course, you will also have contact with external partners, departments within your own division, and other operations within the municipality. You are also surrounded by several support functions such as HR/Administration, Finance, and Development to collectively meet the operation's needs.
Your Expertise
We are looking for someone who is positive, attentive, unpretentious, and enjoys alternating between administrative, operational, and strategic work. Your leadership is characterized by trust in your employees, exemplary conduct, courage to lead, and the desire to develop the operation. In your approach, you are inclusive and value presence, clear communication, and security. For you, it is natural to lead, develop, motivate, and empower others with the authority needed to effectively reach collective and individual goals.
The role requires strong collaboration skills. You take initiative, are stable, results-oriented, and experienced in organizing, prioritizing, and making decisions. As much as teamwork, you are self-driven by taking responsibility for your tasks, structuring your approach, and advancing your work processes.
Requirements:
-Post-secondary education in technology, economics, or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
-At least two years of experience in a leadership position, preferably including responsibility for finances and personnel.
