Would you like to lead and develop our green spaces and contribute to an attractive, safe, and sustainable municipality year-round? We are now seeking an engaged and development-oriented unit manager for Parks Operations within Östersunds Municipality. We offer a unique opportunity to lead and develop community-critical operations in the heart of Jämtland. Your Role As unit manager for Parks Operations, you are responsible for leading, developing, and overseeing operations that maintain the municipality's parks, green areas, playgrounds, and green spaces. During the winter season, we also manage maintenance and winter road care for pedestrian and bicycle paths, as well as ice rinks. You lead a team of approximately 20 employees, including support functions, and are responsible for operations, personnel, work environment, and budget. Through close and trusting leadership, you create the conditions for engagement, collaboration, and strong results while ensuring efficient and quality operations. The role combines operational presence with strategic development work. You are expected to be visible in operations, lead and follow up on daily work, and drive long-term improvements in operations, work methods, and resource utilization. The role also includes collaboration with other internal and external stakeholders. You report to the sector manager and are part of the Gata Park sector leadership team. There you actively contribute to both the sector's and municipality's overall development. The unit is part of the Gata Park sector, where approximately 100 employees work together to create safe, accessible, and well-maintained public environments. Your office is located at the Technical Administration, but a natural part of the role is being present in operations. The entire municipality is your work area. Your Profile You have relevant university education or other education combined with experience that the employer considers equivalent. As a leader, you are confident, trustworthy, and engaged, with experience leading and developing people, teams, and operations. You are motivated by creating engagement, collaboration, and results together with others. Experience from park operations, grounds maintenance, operations, technical activities, or similar areas is a merit, but not a requirement. We value that you understand how practical work, planning, and resource management work together to create well-functioning and sustainable outdoor environments. You also have good digital skills and use digital tools as a natural support for planning, follow-up, communication, and operational development. Experience from municipal operations or other politically governed organizations is a merit. We would like to see that you understand the interplay between politics, operations, and citizen benefit, as well as the ability to translate goals and decisions into practical action. The role requires a driver's license (category B) and good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. What We Offer As a manager in Östersunds Municipality, you take on a central role in leading and developing operations, creating results, and making a real difference in people's everyday lives. You become part of an organization characterized by engagement, collaboration, and sustainable leadership, where you have good opportunities for professional development, management support, and attractive employment terms. For someone who wants to develop both people and operations, this is an opportunity to take the next step in your leadership career and contribute to the ambition of creating a better Östersund every day.
