The Engineering and Street Operations Unit is part of the Technical Department within the Infrastructure and Planning Office. The Technical Department is responsible for operations in the municipality and consists of four units: the Parks and Environmental Operations Unit, the Traffic Operations Unit, the Engineering and Street Operations Unit, and the Sports Facilities Unit. The Engineering and Street Operations Unit plays a key role in ensuring that the municipality's streets and public spaces function in daily life and develop in line with the municipality's growth. The unit is responsible for operation, maintenance, and development of street operations, as well as for new construction projects involving streets, park environments, school and preschool grounds, and water and wastewater facilities. Daily work includes pavement and asphalt maintenance, stormwater management, street lighting, snow removal, and work on traffic environments. The unit also plays an important role in project management and collaboration on construction projects linked to the municipality's development. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Are you our new unit manager who with confidence, calm, and clarity leads and develops the operations? As a unit manager, you have overall responsibility for operations, personnel, and budget. The unit consists of 17 employees, including construction workers and work supervisors. You report to the Head of the Technical Department and are part of the department's management team. In addition to responsibility for your own unit, you contribute a holistic perspective and actively participate in the department's development and change initiatives. The role involves many points of contact, both internal and external, where you collaborate with clients, project organizations, and external partners. You are responsible for operating the unit with a focus on efficient operations, long-term planning, and effective work methods. Winter operations and emergency preparedness are part of the management assignment, where you have overall responsibility for the municipality's winter road maintenance and participate in the preparedness yourself. This is a role where you have a central function in developing the municipality's street operations and construction activities in practice. As a unit manager, you work in operations experiencing strong growth, where you have considerable scope to influence how operations and projects work together in daily operations and in the infrastructure development process. You work closely with operations and have a clear mandate to drive issues forward and develop work methods and solutions. The role involves a day-to-day environment where you are both present in operations and contribute to decisions that have a direct impact on the municipality's public spaces. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone with several years of experience in a management role with personnel and budget responsibility and who feels confident in your leadership. You have good IT skills and strong ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish. In addition to this, you also have experience with street operations and construction projects and hold a Class B driver's license. It is meritorious if you have experience working in a politically governed organization, have completed leadership training, and hold BAS U certification. It is also meritorious if you have experience with strategic development work and change management, as well as experience contributing to management teams with a focus on the overall operations and long-term development.
