Your responsibilities
As a unit manager for open youth and leisure activities, you have an important societal mission where you lead and develop activities that make a real difference for children and young people in Linköping. The assignment involves creating safe, inclusive, and democratic meeting places where young people have the opportunity for participation, development, and influence.
You are responsible for leading the activities both strategically and operationally based on the municipality's goals, governing documents, and European principles for open youth and leisure activities. In this role, you are responsible for operations, budget, work environment, and personnel, and you actively work with quality, follow-up, and development initiatives.
An important part of the assignment is to drive change and development work to meet young people's needs and societal changes. You work to ensure that the activities are characterized by a rights-based and norm-aware approach where democracy, equality, and social sustainability are central.
You collaborate closely with schools, civil society, associations, and other actors to create good conditions for young people in the municipality.
Your workplace
The Culture and Leisure Administration works to create an attractive, inclusive, and sustainable Linköping where people have the opportunity to grow, meet, and develop. Within open youth and leisure activities, young people's participation, safety, and empowerment are in focus.
As a unit manager, you will become part of an activity with engaged employees and strong civic engagement. Together, you will work to develop meeting places and activities that strengthen young people's opportunities to influence their lives and their future. You report to the head of youth and leisure and are part of the division's management team. Your workplace is located at Linköping's main library, but we also want you to be visible in the field.
We offer you a developmental leadership assignment with great opportunity to influence the direction and content of the activities. You will be an important part of the administration's continued development work and in the effort to create a socially sustainable Linköping.
You who are applying
We are looking for you who are a confident and committed leader with a strong interest in youth issues, democracy, and social sustainability. You are driven to develop activities that make a difference for children and young people and have the ability to translate visions, goals, and governing documents into concrete activities with clear results.
You have higher education or equivalent folk high school education in, for example, social work, pedagogy, leisure science, behavioral science, leadership, or another area that the employer deems relevant.
We would like you to have experience from open youth and leisure activities or other activities that work closely with children and young people. You have an understanding of the opportunities and challenges that exist in creating safe, inclusive, and attractive meeting places where young people are given the opportunity for participation, influence, and personal development.
It is meritorious if you have experience with budget and personnel responsibility, working with young people's participation and influence, project management, or external financing. Knowledge of the EU's youth strategy, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, human rights, and work in multicultural environments is also considered meritorious.
You further have experience in leadership and are accustomed to creating conditions for employees to grow, take responsibility, and contribute to the development of activities. You also have experience leading development and change initiatives as well as working systematically with quality, follow-up, and activity development.
As a person, you are structured and responsible while being responsive and relationship-building. You find it easy to build trustful collaborations, both internally and externally, and see collaboration as an obvious way to achieve good results. You communicate clearly and inspiringly and have the ability to create engagement around common goals.
To succeed in this role, you also need to have a norm-aware and rights-based approach. You see the value of diversity and inclusion and actively work to create activities where everyone feels welcome and has the opportunity to influence. We especially value your ability to lead in change, think strategically, and at the same time maintain focus on the activity's mission and the young people the activity exists for.
