We are seeking a Unit Manager for our property management at SLU who wants to take responsibility for and develop a diverse portfolio within both academic and commercial operations. SLU is one of the government agencies managing properties, and we manage properties primarily for research and teaching, although we also have external and private tenants. About the job SLU's property management consists of property managers, technical managers, and a business development specialist. Approximately 5-6 people in total. The unit is part of the Department of Properties and Services (FaS), led by a Property Director. Together with the Property Director, you are responsible for managing properties in the following categories: Research and educational properties – specially adapted environments for teaching and research Commercial properties – offices, premises, and business spaces Agricultural properties – farms, leases, land, and buildings Residential properties – student housing, etc. Cultural properties – buildings with cultural-historical and architectural value Your responsibilities include: Responsibility for personnel, finances, and operations Technical and financial management Tenant accommodations, maintenance planning, and investments Budget responsibility and financial follow-up Negotiations and contract management Collaboration with internal functions, contractors, and authorities Ensuring that properties meet requirements for environment, accessibility, and functionality Your background We are looking for someone with: Substantial experience in property management, preferably from both the public and private sectors. Experience from state property management is advantageous. Knowledge in technical, legal, and financial management Experience working with cultural properties and/or research environments, which is also advantageous Relevant university education, such as property management, building technology, or similar Interest in driving development/validation of property databases and procedures Strong ability to manage multiple parallel assignments and build good relationships Class B driver's license (required for this position) We value: Strategic vision and operational drive Good communication skills A solution-oriented and sustainable approach Interest in infrastructure development, research, and cultural environments About us SLU manages more than 6,000 hectares of land and over 400 buildings. Property management is a unit within the Department of Properties and Services (FaS), which reports directly to the University Director. FaS consists of property and technical managers, property operations, and conducts agricultural operations on our own agricultural estates. SLU's own building project unit, service, and administrative services are also included. SLU's properties are located at more than 30 sites across the country, including research stations not located in any of the campus areas. The economic focus of our holdings is concentrated around Umeå, Uppsala, Skara, and Alnarp. Our operations are highly varied, and the property portfolio literally ranges from castles to cottages.
